Jack Hutchinson is not a midfielders bunghole, play him as a lead up forward for ****s sake
Yep. It's been so evident this year. Given how many deficiencies we had at the start of the year, he kind of escaped the spotlight. But he's just not up to being a midfielder at this level.

Time to play on HFF for mine.

Thought he did okay. 19 disposals, 4 tackles, 4 inside 50s and 4 score involvements.

Wing is a hard spot, it's turned into a bit of a positioning role by nature and we seem to always be critical of the players that get stuck out there.

We could shift Hutch to the HFF and Kelly to the Wing but Kelly would probably become more invisible than he already is

Must be quite awkward or maybe confusing for the young blokes when they do the game review as a group and Dugan's efforts are shown.
Just so glaringly obvious and repetitive.

To be fair to him, he also had some absolute elite efforts pushing back into defense, putting his body on the line, halving contests and keeping his head over the ball.

I'll agree his first quarter was infuriating with probably 4 of his 10 touches being smothered and another 4 of them being direct turnovers...

But he also lasered a bullet for Jobe to clunk and kick his first AFL goal. Gets points for that.

Definitely should not be captain though, that's Baker every day of the week.

Ginbeys courage was outstanding 👏

He's a champ

He looked like he was getting cranky too which was good to see

He’s a real fan fave from what I can see.

The good news is it “appears” that we have some genuine long term leadership candidates in the younger group. Baker for captain in the short term, but longer term, Ginbey, Hough and even Hewett are all ones who could do the job. All three are a WCE marketers dream also, speak and present well.

There was so much good last night that I don't want to rehash what you've all said.

+McCarthy.

We need to emphasize the dude may be athletically fit, but he's not AFL fit. He hasn't had an AFL preseason, he doesn't have anywhere close to an AFL footballer's physique and yet he still competes at every contest, is one of our best ball users after two games and has composure.

He's a naturally very gifted footballer who we are very very fortunate to have.

I thought Hewett was a standout bursting out of packs.

He has a definite X Factor just needs to build that tank and get more of it.

A proper full pre season will help.

Yeah Baker was great! little Bulldog in the middle.

He got himself out of some sticky spots but then can have some brain fades but always puts himself in there

Baker just keeps going at it when most players would think they've lost the contest, awesome to see and it must really gee the young fellas up.

Good to see Naicos so low. Watch him get 10 coaches votes.

Thought Josh Daicos was more influential but he's not on that list.

weird systems

Your missus is so lucky to have you mansplaining shit to her all game.

What I am loving about the last 4 or 5 games is that the gameplan is working and the young guys are starting to hold their own. They can't do it for 4 quarters, but it gives McQualter and great platform for next pre season. Get fitness and skills up and move on from the guys who can't do their role.

Next year will be exciting because most of the young players will hit either 50+ games or 3+ preseasons. Look at the noticeable improvement from guys like Hough, Ginbey and Edwards once they hit those milestones. J Williams another (hasn't played 50 games yet but has had 4 preseasons). I can see this group taking a good leap up into mid table next year.

Those ratings just prove little Nicky is just the biggest chip scab of all time.

28 uncontested possessions. The bloke would rob his grandma for a round the back handball on her deathbed.

If Lockett was lining up to kick his 1000th goal, Dickoss would "Yep yep yep 1-2…1-2" in his ear.

I think the most pleasing thing about the game was how the team responded each time Collingwood got a run on. The biggest difference between the team now versus the first six weeks of the season is they don't dissolve when the opposition gets control out of the centre, they are far better at stabilising and getting back into the game in that situation. Given if anything this team is actually quite a bit less experienced than the 22 running around last year, that says a lot about how they are being coached and the system and culture mini is building.

But geez west coast have had an extraordinarily shitty run of luck this year in games where they are competitive. If Williams- typically a very accurate set shot- doesn't pick this week to spray everything, if Edwards, who was in excellent intercept marking form doesn't go downstairs for his HIA just when Collingwood started getting control out of the centre, if we don't get the customary 'you're 18th on the ladder so you must be holding the ball' interpretation all day, or if heaven forbid we play this game with just one of Waterman/Yeo/McGovern available, if, if, if...

It feels like there have been about 5 close games this year where we were in a winning position only to have all sorts of ridiculous shit go against us at crucial moments. It's got to the point where on the rare occasions where we seem to be in a winning position, you pretty much just have to smile, relax and wait to find out how the footy gods are going to **** us this time.

As long as they don't break mentally from the constant losses and lack of reward for effort, in the long term this probably works out ok for west coast. We are going to get pick 1 but the last 6 weeks we have been playing a fair bit better than the ladder position suggests.

I through Pendle's was a class above
Yeah 100% his experience stood out.

Shanahan at one point did the right thing by forcing him onto his right but he just ran that extra few metres, straightened up and used his left where I pictured less experience guys would rush it on the non preferred.

He's annoyingly good coz it's just like "arrrgh grab him, hes slow!!"
