To be fair, the AFL tried propping up the smaller clubs once.. remember COLA and additional salary cap for Brisbane?
Our Eddie (rightly) didn't like that, and called for an even playing field.
It's unfortunate that human nature dictates that players want to play for high profile, wealthy successful clubs.
