Really lacked the experienced heads tonight, particularly down back. And the older players we do have just didn’t stand up against the hardened lions squad. Still need that Hodge type defensive general to come in to take us to the next level

Not an ideal night for Brisbane with that pile of injuries.

Inside mid with above average kick is very important , those hack the ball in won't work against Brisbane , Dew is responsible for this , Miller kicking back to below average . Swallow is not Rowell .
It's well known I have a solid man crush on Dave Swallow but he is literally our Jack Ziebell
Heart and soul of the Club but if you put him on the trade table-*crickets*

Lions off a 5 day break, not 4. ;) Being down on the bench doesn't hurt you in the game you're playing - see us vs Pies a few years ago. It hurts you the game after given more players have spent petrol tickets.

But yeah, we definitely sucked butt tonight.

Weller 1 contested possession tonight.

He can never be played in the centre square again (not that he did tonight, just saying).

The pressure Brisbane put us under all night didnt allow us to be clean.
When we had space we butchered the ball.
Our dump kicks went to brisbane players.

King was fine. Not 1 ball got kicked to his advantage all night.
Darcy shouldnt play again for the rest of the season. His attitude and game is terrible at the moment.
Collins and Ballard got nowhere near it tonight. Maybe some sort of plan by Fagan.

I had 3 bucks on Corbett to kick 3 goals, woulda won $80 bucks and he misses after the siren. hahahah!

A very dirty night.

If Brodie doesn’t get a game next week,
He’s obviously did the deed with Dews mrs.
Why would you play someone who won't be here next year in Brodie? May as well just put Flanders in there more or keep playing Noah. Guys that will be here and will develop.

Put Graham in that same niche as Cameron, Schade, Leslie, Herbert no presence, read of the game or confidence move him on
I thought Graham was good tonight. Kept McStay accountable, took some good marks in defence. He's a young player but showing a lot. McStay wasn't near it for a lot of the night.

We are not missing any older heads, we are missing Rowell in the worst way.

He will unlock the midfield when he has 2 blokes hanging off him and still releases a team mate into space out of a clearance.

Looked like he was so bad in the 1st quarter that they released him, to not play on anyone. A lot of intercepts not much decent defensive play.

We got pantsed badly by Carlton , beat up on an undermanned and demoralised North Melbourne and pantsed again tonight
We are a solid bottom 5 team playing guys who shouldn't be getting a senior game of AFL footy
We have to assume Moneyball at play with Wright Fiorini and Brodie
They will be allowed to walk to make salary cap room and we'll play guys like MacPherson Holman Day Flanders Graham and others not quite up to it to keep the young developing stars
Is the only explanation when you see such a sad midfield and forward line performance as we witnessed tonight and have seen pretty much over there past 6-8 weeks

No fight from any leaders, its a joke really. Lucky umpires saved us from a 100 point belting and Lachie Neale was in cotton wool.

Got absolutely dominated and only lost by 46. Last year we would completely drop our bundle and lose by 75.
25% less game time this year-significantly including red time
You can't talk about winning margins and compare it with previous seasons
That's the equivalent of 100 points last year no doubt

Easy on the kids - a lot of young skin out there tonight against a top 2 side - did well to hold them back after qtr time.

last year got done by 95 points, with a much more experienced side.

kids stuffed up - own it, learn from it, get the head back in the game against the pies next week.

This board is getting so depressing it's hard to want to be on here. Tonight has been probably only our 2nd real stinker since the restart.
We are still incredibly young and growing, gonna be more pain along the way. If you can't handle it then this isn't the team for you

Yeah, its not as bad as some think. The only real disappointing thing was the skill errors. Kicking to non targets. Over the head of players. The effort was mostly there.
But clearly this just separates a team playing finals, and one slowly rising. That's all.

One team looking at finals. The other with one eye on the off-season break. Happens to a lot of teams at this time of year.coaches need to get them into line, cause it would be nice to jag at least one win from the next two and not just bomb out and blow our good work for the year.

Okay some positives
Dew actually tried a few different things through the middle, Flanders to the wing and Buderick forward late in the last. While the skill was poor the effort was still there from most players.
