11:10 AEST, Sunday the 15th July 2012.
Having played three games against middling opponents since our bye, with differing results, the AFC will be glad to match up on a easybeat given our headaches in the forward line.
Facing the prospect of having all or most of Taylor Walker, Kurt Tippett, Shaun McKernan, Ian Callinan and Jared Petrenko from our best 22, it is left to the 'Fringe Forwards' to make their mark.
Tom Lynch, Tim McIntyre, Lewis Johnston, Ricky Henderson will all press their claim to join or remain in the Crows 22. Tom Lynch has starred for Glenelg for much of the SANFL season and probably holds the dubious honour of the best player not in our 22. McIntyre repped the #49 in style for his debut AFL game and will be keen to join Matty Wright as a permanent small forward in the side. Lewis Johnston has been a consistent SANFL goalkicker, though his chances of a Crows debut diminish given the two consecutive Rooster byes, and a subsequent lack of match fitness. Having just booted 6.2 from nowhere, the consistent inclusion of Henderson after some time in the wilderness should be a strong possibility.
Despite calls by some posters for Knights' and Doughty's dropping after less than brilliant performances in tonight's spectacle, it is unlikely they will be dropped given the number of forced changes that will need to be made (including restings). It would not be surprising to see Sam '61' Jacobs given a rest for this week, however the logistics are made difficult given McKernan's and Tippett's injuries, as well as Jenkins' and Dowdell's inexperience. A red vest is a possibility.
In terms of our opposition, it is time to once again face some club foes.
Probably the only stage in his career where we didn't all hate him.
"So long, g boys!" Or at least that's what we thought...
Well at least the guy had good intentions. Surely we can believe this man of enormous integrity? Right?
In all seriousness, while it is only GWS they have pulled some decent performances out of their hats (the recent Richmond and GC games spring to mind). And given it is an away game on a completely foreign playing field, and our recent injury woes, victory is no certainty.
But to be top four we can no longer drop games to minnows, and a loss would probably have many of us burning the Westpac Centre down (just like everytime we didn't appeal a Walker suspension).
These are the team list for Round 15, with those likely to be injured highlighted.
GWS Giants:
B: Adam Kennedy, Tim Mohr, Shaun Edwards
HB: Curtly Hampton, Phil Davis, Tomas Bugg
C: Rhys Palmer, Callan Ward, Adam Treloar
