No MRO reference to the hit on Zorko that appeared to knock the stuffing out of him in the last - not even a comment of a review of the incident and "nothing to see here"?

I personally believe that we are not liked as a football club/team. I reckon it stems from our 3peat. The MRO stitch is up at any opportunity (no-one can say what about Neale because that would have caused a riot). The umpires are so far one sided it’s ridiculous. The commentators openly cheer for the team that we play against. The only articles in the media are from qld based journalists. It could also stem from this whole we’ve been gifted home ground advantage as well. I like to think I am a realist but for me it’s stands out like 🐶 ⚽🎾.

I don't think it's a new thing this year, so...

Heh, reminds me of a conversation I had with a Freo supporter while taking the bus back from a game at Optus Oval (not a Lions game). Went from being interested in talking to me as a "Lions" fan to actively disinterested when that "Lions" fan turned out to not be nee Fitzroy.

We’ve had 35 players this year which is the same as last year.

How do you reward players for form when they’re playing starch matches and we are 13-3 for the year?

to play one of the kids you have to drop a senior player, the easy part is to say play them but then who do you drop? People wanted skinner and ballendean to play but both were okay at best so whose to say Woolley/Smith would do a better job.

adelaide are dead last and have been big average all year so hardly a reasonable comparison.
Yes it is hard to argue against a 13-3 record. Although some wins have been by small margins. Can't comment on the match sims this year, because we are getting no information, so have to trust the coaches.
Based on some of the match sims I saw earlier in the year, I would have exposed Payne a little earlier in the season (against say Freeo and Crows) at the expense of Lester (who has surprised this year). Perhaps if we did this he might not have been overawed against Richmond on debut. Same principle with Skinner who was playing well in the match sims, but had to wait until McStay was suspended. Although I think after 3 ACL's appears to have lost a little agility.
Coleman only got an opportunity because of a suspension and then injuries and I almost think he is a lock, and looking forward to his development next year.

I just think Adelaide have looked better the past month with playing some of the young guys, that's not to say Lions should do that now, but some 'blooding' of the odd young player throughout the year has to build depth. I suppose that is why I am not keen on resigning Birchall or Stef.

Honestly, when I was watching it, I was thinking "gee Zorko - careful, you'll get done for staging".

The way he carried on, maybe it was a proper hit to the throat, but it didn't look like it to me, and Zorko has form at hamming it up.

He exaggerated it IMO. It was at the top of the chest, so it probably did hurt his throat, but he got up fine and played on after the quick check on him.

The throat is a extremely sensitive area, all it would have taken was a little flick of a finger to the throat and it was close enough to that area for me to think that he wasn’t playing it up.
He looked like he was near vomiting 🤮

If I was a neutral I would say Zorko wasnt too far off staging there
I'm not a neutral and thought Zorko got what he deserved.

Again, Zorko was acting like a dick, which is so embarrassing for a club captain and I thought good on the young Swans lad not taking Zorko's crap and giving him a legal whack and getting him in the sweet spot.

30 seconds prior when zorko was taking a mark the same swans player gave him whack in the midriff during the marking contest, zorko retaliated in the next contest and then swans player went again. So not all zorko's fault i'd say

He got up and was visibly distressed for a decent period, dry reaching. The ball came his way and he was involved in the play. The camera then went back to him and he was continuing to struggle. It looked a long way from staging to me. He was not lying on the ground, he was standing and struggling to breath. It was a forceful strike to the neck, albeit the base of the neck. It was dangerous and a suspension should have resulted. We definitely do not want that in the game.

Lynch is a sniper, wimp, whining little bitch, etc, for striking a player but good on the Swans player for striking Zorko?

I can see why they didn't review it but the logic of some strikes being ok escapes me.

I'd assume our medical report indicated the force was minimal. I've often suspected we're one of the club's who look after opponents with our medical reports

Zorko was being a smart arse and got what he deserved. If Zorko didn't have form for these sort of antics, I'd defend him, but I'm not going to defend him for being a smart arse to a first or second year player that gave out as good as he got.

And yeah, Lynch is a sniping, wimp, whining little b*tch, etc.

How was Zorko being a smart arse?

Zorks looked fairly crook to me. Not staging at all. He cops a lot ,give him a break.

Just on bias against us we get barely any coverage on the Melbourne TV shows but Essendon,Richmond ,Collingwood and Melbourne wall to wall on any trifling issue.

Reiwoldt clearly hates us as do Hutchinson and Cornes. Discussion last night on who might win the flag and we were barely mentioned on either show except that we had a big advantage with games at the Gabba.

As for umpiring the numbers recently speak for themselves. Neale just kept getting grabbed or shepherded out of the contest when the ball wasn't within 5 yards , barely a peep from the 3 umps out there.

I suppose this sounds like a whinge but getting a bit sick of it all tbh.

Happy to fly under the radar. I suspect we are holding back a bit. We have been using different game styles throughout the year. No pressure on either us or Port (other than they put it out there they were going to win the flag at the beginning of the year). New season starts in 2 weeks.

He'd just clobbered the player after he had kicked the ball - there was a freekick downfield. Doesn't make the retaliation justified, of course.

Watching the replay I thought it was pretty lineball whether or not it was late and therefore a downfield free.

Yeah that's probably fair enough, but I don't really give Zorks the benefit of the doubt. Love him as a player, but he stages and he gets in his shots on the opposition quite sneakily and often gets away with it.

Yeah definitely pushes the limits

Personally, I feel like the fact we havent just blooded players for the sake of it has meant when they have come in they have been raring to go, Coleman being the perfect example of that.

The club is at a stage where we have to expect our best 22 to be performing to the standard immediately or they will be replaced. Coleman has done that. Skinner did not. Payne was borderline against Richmond.

It is clear that Fages has a best 22 in mind at the start of the season, and anyone outside that has to go over expectations to push someone out. I don't really have a problem with that personally, and I'm pretty sure Fages has said previously that everyone is "reset" back to even at the start of the preseason. (Although maybe I am remembering things here)

(Last weekends stats are not included, but Oscar had 4 clearances and made ground on Zorko, who had 3)

Oscar is currently ranked FOURTH at the club this season for CLEARANCES, behind Neale, Lyons and Zorko. He gives us enormous drive all over the park, yet we still have people on our board saying he doesn’t do enough around the ground. These people are seriously demonstrating their complete lack of understanding of our side and the game. Then again, the “Oscar doesn’t do enough around the ground” posters are by and large the same people who said Ryan Lester wasn’t up to AFL standard. These people specialise in proving how little they know.
Are you sure they are not the same posters who judge McStay solely on goals scored? People in glass houses and all that....
