Happy to be wrong but I thought there was a lot of mayo on it
At least you're happy about it.
He was down for a couple of minutes, they even stopped the game (wtf is that about? Clearly wasnt a head knock and ball wasnt in the area). Nobody is going to continue with mayo for that long, the free kick clearly wasn't coming.
Classic liver shot reaction and the strike was in the exact spot- under the right hand side floating rib.

Stopped play only once Hough marked it 25m or so on the same wing, so essentially any kick was going to go to or over the medico.

Probably a good call, they stopped the play for Daicos stretching out a calf cramp earlier this year, so once the doc is out there and the ball is close I guess it makes sense.

Take it up with the 10 other people who gave him votes.

Nobody is making you like Liam Ryan but imagine watching yesterday’s game and having any inkling that he’s part of the problem.

Also nobody said he was our best player, you just don’t like Liam Ryan or literacy.
He becomes part of the problem when he still thinks he can leap tall buildings from behind when he can’t get off the ground or thinks the only contribution he can make is to keep Cripps in the side by kicking it to him.

Apart from Ryan being on the receiving end of some absolute trash forward entries, he was also burnt on numerous occasions throughout the game where he was the much better option.

Had a frustrating night, but wasn't entirely his fault

This Cripps angle is just simply not true but that’s never stopped you before.

He’s trying to leap over mountains because our blokes can’t kick it to him anywhere within the stratosphere of our planet. Check the kick he copped on the stroke of half time, a routine easy pass to a teammate who had made metres of space, and they miss him by so much he has to cop a tunnel from his defender who he’d already burned.

When I responded to your Ryan post it was half time, where he was third for disposals and had the direct goal assist on two of our three goals. And even then I didn’t claim he’d been our best, because Ginbey had and continued to be.

Keep bagging him though, with your track record it’ll get him in All Aus side, junk time.

Maybe I was too harsh on him given how many disagrees I've got.

In hindsight, **** you Tom Green you massive flog campaigner.

We really missed Waterman last night & him leading up at the ball carrier crashing packs. At the very least it draws defenders and creates space behind him.

Hewitt had a couple of kicks that ended in turnovers where he just needed one of the forwards to lead up at him & it would have been a shot at goal. He waited for them to but instead they ran back towards goals and Hewitts kick didn’t have enough on it to clear the GWS defenders. It looks bad & a turnover for Hewitt but that’s on the forwards.

I thought Hewitt was decent last night. His kicking was down but he had some really nice clearances & some good vision with his handballs that put us in good positions only for someone else to stuff it up. He still had 21 touches, 5 clearances and was cracking in.

Him & Reid desperately need Yeo back taking some of the load.

Wtf are you on about. Sure he wants lots of money, everyone wants lots of money. Wanting bags of cash doesn't mean he actually wants to be out on the ground playing football, because at the moment he clearly does not want to be out there, everyone can see it
You're not even making sense mate, let it go. You're conflating two issues, one is not a fact or a truth, it's an emotional opinion.

How’s Junktime gone this year expert.. times proven me correct. Again.

Ryan has been a good player.. but he is on the other side of the slide and is almost done and he is meant to be a goal kicker… he can’t kick a goal from 20 out straight infront anymore

A generationally stupid post. Congratulations.

And since you asked, he’s played 8 games and still leads our goal kicking at the end of Round 17. On your bike.

Did anyone else have trouble with the jumpers clashing. For deck 5 the majority yellow vs basically all white, they just blended together.

I get the idea of wanting to ware the indigenous jumpers on NAIDOC weekend, but we have already had two weeks of Sit Doug round. Perhaps the wise move from the AFL would be to hold Sir Doug round over NAIDOC week.

The inherent design elements of the Indigenous jumpers will always lead to a higher clash likely hood. This could be again easily fix with having a secondary inverted or darker jumper required, especially if they are going to be used for 3 rounds in the season.
Yesssss - I thought it was my old age……..sadly GWS had no issue identifying their players though 😩

How the **** can you be overawed by your own home crowd? That was very rough.

Mini needs to assert himself a bit through selection. Kelly just doesn't care as far as I can see - off to the magoos. I'm a long-term buyer of hutch but he's lost confidence and needs a spell. Cripps, I'm sorry to say, should have his papers stamped re contract.
pretty dumb, it was clear why Cripps and Kelly were selected- they know how to play even if now slowing down. The kids mostly were well out of their weight division and lost. We can not field an entire U19 team

Slept on it to calm the emotions after that game.

Positives:
Shanahan - The kid can play. Tackles really well for a big guy and just has composure. Aside from the easy miss in Qtr 1 was very good.
Ginbey - Excellent. Set and Forget.
Ryan - Worked hard and was burnt so often. Did a lot right and was let down by some god awful f50 delivery.
TMac - Lower possessions tonight but worked hard and his kicking is beautiful to watch when he takes those riskier ones.
Harley - 24d, 7x Tackles, 7x Clearances, 4x i50s, 4x Score involvements, 21 Pressure Acts. The guy is working extremely hard and really needs some help in the middle. GWS targeted him hard.
Champion - gets the debut out of the way, was good with the half he played, some nervous disposals but should be better for the run.

Negatives:
Where to start. I don't know if it was a bad game plan for GWS or what but we came out SLOW. All of the run and carry of the previous week was gone.

That first smother on Harley that went immediately for a goal was deflating.

The lack of pressure from all across the ground was clear - GWS spread hard and closed up spaces with a clear intent to clog up our ball movement. The lads had no response and essentially gave up rather than try to cut through.

The delivery into the f50 was putrid, no lowering the eyes, missing easy kicks, constantly sitting it on flyin' ryans head.

Duggan and his decision making and disposal by foot. That kick across the goals in the d50 that was immediately turned over was horrendous, I have no idea what he was even thinking with that. So many of his kicks out of d50 went to packs where we didn't have the advantage or direct to the opposition.

Was our worst defeat this year, even worse than GC i think.

Agree. Especially regarding Ryan. He got burnt soooo many times. I really felt sorry for him - a few teammates should be apologising.

It highlights we still haven’t found a replacement for Rioli. One small forward isn’t enough. Hopefully Long or Owies or Brockman or Champion or ?? can step up.

Otherwise, I’m giving our young team a mulligan. We didn’t counteract the GWS game. And tooo many players had off nights.

But previously it would have been a 90 point loss. We are improving but it’s not linear. Last week was a step forward, last night a step back.

While I was having a bit of a melt during the game, my wife turned to me and said it just looks like boys against men. And that is exactly what it was. What stood out most for me in that game was the serious lack of on field leadership we have accross all lines.

GWS broke us early, we couldn't figure out how to stop the tsunami. It was made to look even worse when our players would be streaming forward as our game plan requires to then turn it over and we would get completely burnt running the other way. It wasn't a lack of intent on our part, it was complete and utter confusion and an inability to know how to stop their running in waves. The mids would be out of position and the defense left all out at sea. It was obvious the players started to panic, they stopped doing what they have been practising with the ball movement and tried to go into a mode to just slow their scoring.
The inexperience of the team was very evident, it would have been nice to see the 'leaders' step up with calm heads and help the kids but alas they weren't able to.

I always try to look for positves and as some people have already pointed out their was a few.

-Harley battled hard all day. The Giants clearly came in with a plan to knock him around a bit so overall I'm happy with how he responded
  • Shanahan is lock and load JK replacement. Can we clone him somehow so we also have a Gov replacement?
  • Ginbey will be a gun 250 game plus defender. Loving his work
  • Love McCarthy's kicking, shame we didn't use him as much as previous weeks
  • thought some of our other kids tried their heart out but unfortunately were really let down by our Senior players.

Overall, we're in the midst of a deep rebuild and improvement isn't linear. Guarentee we will have more games like this over the next couple of years. The good news is they aren't quite as frequent and the 'bad' games are 10 goal beltings not 15-20, Its a start. Lets just hope they review and learn from it.

Positives:
Ginbey - fast becoming my favourite current Eagle; I love the kid's work rate. Consistent performer
Shanahan - Excited by what he may become
Reid - Apart from a few brain fades, love his willingness to stand up against seasoned opponents.
Ryan - Going against the grain of some, I thought Liam tried hard, but the incoming ball to him was more often than not horrendous.

Negative:
TK - Just no more; offers very little. I don't even see any leadership with him on the field. Needs a long spell in the WAFL.
Duggan - Might as well have played for the Giants, turnoverking.
Hutchinson - Clearly not up to standard currently, please, Mini, give him a long spell with TK in the Beagles
Foot Speed - Got burnt all over the ground; always chasing and left behind, which was embarrassing to watch.

Positives:
Kids got another lesson
Champion was not out of it
Shanahan
Backs swamped but fought it through
GWS are on top of dockers (%)
The umpires, while a close run thing, were as good as those in the Dogs/North game. How can a professional game be so pathetic.
