He’ll have his challenges but he is singleminded in achieving success, and I have no doubt that top on his list will be to pinch Wade - I hope we have him under an ironclad contract.

If they sack Voss they will have soft cap issues for the next couple of years. And if money or a promotion is not the factor, I can’t think of a single reason someone like Wade would go from a high performing, best in class culture environment to a toxic low performing workplace.

Funny thing with Wright is that he had enough of football ops, took a sabbatical to escape it, kicked up a fuss about becoming CEO instead of head of footy, moved to Carlton specifically for that CEO role and now he has to essentially gets his hands on every football decision and pick and pinch people like Wade, assess coaches, and even get in the weeds of list management and recruitment? This could be M Malthouse all over again.

When Pies lost to Cats... it's because they let go of the pedal a bit early in the 3rd .. cats then kicked 4 goals straight and Pies were cold entering 4th and warmed up again too late. Lesson learned.... be up at least 7 goals before relaxing.

We are such a connected club.
if you want to see how connected, look no further than Mr Wade.

Qtr time, we were late out of the huddle.
Everyone was coming off except Wade, who appeared to be hovering and looking back into the D50.
He started to Jog towards D50, yelling out.
...Turns out we had 7 defenders. IQ was supposed to be on the bench.
Players we're talking and IQ looked up and saw Wade yelling at him and took off for the bench.
They both made it off just in time.

Head of High Performance, counting players and bench players and before anyone else had twigged (including players), he was off to make sure we had the right numbers.
Let that sink in.

That's seriously good awareness and heads up thinking.

What a magnificent start to the weekend!
The scum shot their bolt in the first quarter and reverted to type after that.

It was wonderful to see Titch back - he looked like he hasn't been missing at all.
His hands are elite, and he and Ned complemented each other well.

DC comprehensively beat the $1.7M man.

Steele looked the goods in his first game.

Sully played a terrific game - his goal was a beauty.

The MMMs all fired - I hope Big Dan can stay on the park, Skunk has the name of my favourite Stones album, and Checkers did what Checkers does.

Jamie could have had at least half a dozen - it's heartwarming to see him have such a great season.

Bruzzy being back makes a difference - that smother that led to one of Big Dan's goals was brilliant.

The last quarter was just cruise control - we have bigger fish to fry.

So much to like, but I will say one positive thing about the scum.
Motlop's goal celebration was a fitting tribute to Diogo Jota.

I sent this to a scum supporting friend:

My hope is the Puppeteers controlling the board - Pratts and Mathiesons, continue their decades long feud that will continue to destabilize the Club.
Noting of course Craig Mathieson wanted Voss sacked a few years ago - “I told you so “ will be the obvious impetus to the renewed blood letting.

Sat in the MCC tonight - what an experience. Clearly this is where the true alcoholics like to congregate. Never seen so many people up and down the aisles during the match. I would say in my bay on ground level, most would be lucky to have seen half a match lol.

Loved seeing Titch back in the team. So good. What a luxury.

I thought Steele looked pretty good.

Sullivan also did well asking as he works within his limitations then he is decent.

Houston needs more than 11 disposals per game. I am hoping there is a positional move coming soon.

You can definitely see a log jam for spots coming up - good times.
I was in the MCC too and was missing that many passages of play and missed a couple of goals because people couldn’t stay in their seat for more than 10 mins and then forgot where they were sitting. Was infuriating.

I was in M48.

I had to keep shifting my position or leaning into the aisle to see.

Whereas in the Legends section, people generally leave and return to their seats during the breaks.

A Collingwood supporter sitting in front of us last night was hearing me carry on all night and about halfway through the 3rd quarter turned around and said

“Someone loves Tom Mitchell!”

lol

The good

  • The win
  • Qualified for finals baby, yeah!
  • The Carlton loss
  • Roan Steele’s debut. Looked like a 50 game player out there
  • Mitchell is back!
  • McStay’s 70 meter goal
  • Elliott clocking up 40 goals for the season
  • Oleg Markov, one of the best games he’s played for us. He doesn’t always nail it, but he brings good energy.
  • One of Sullivan’s best games for us
  • Good to have Maynard back
  • Parker didn’t look out of place
  • The commentary was decent for a change - it swung between admiring Collingwood and Shitcanning Carlton

The bad

  • Carlton
  • The headaches at upcoming selection committees. Who the hell do we drop to bring in Sidebottom, Hill, Allan, McCreery, Schultz, DeGoey and Frampton?
  • I really wish Dunstall and Lewis didn’t whinge so much about the umpiring. Stick to calling the game.

The ugly

- Nothing, the world is a beautiful place.

MCC is always like this. The game starts with everyone in their seats, and by the end most are in the bar, not bothering to return to their seats. In the interim they are constantly up and down.

Sometimes that’s a good thing, as the idiots tend to thin out.
