Hope it is precaution with those two - that's a lot of calf injuries (including Hill), think that was the injury Ibbotson had late last year

Imagine the uproar if they were listed as "rested" - at least calf strains are believable and most wouldn't raise an eyebrow

Something about a 6 day break after the GWS game before our bye would have something to do with it, keep everyone fresh for those last 4 big games after the Carlton game

But McPharlin has only played one game after missing 4 - I'd say he's 'well-rested'.

Three to still be cut though. I wonder if they're considering playing Taberner in defence again? Cameron, Patton and Boyd are in the GWS squad. We're quite small in the backline.
Rory Lobb is a 205 cm ruck, also named on the extended interchange. They could end up with four very tall forwards at times.

For mine, it looks like we'll be retaining Barlow, Sylvia and Mora... and the fourth will be a taller backman. Whether that's Tabs or A. Pearce, I'm not sure. I'd like to see Alex get a run, but think Tabs will get another run in the backline.

I really hope that Macca and Ibbo are resting. You would think travelling to Melbourne next week would be a better time to rest.

Remember that we were certain last week that hill was a "rest" and look what happened.

Thinking it through ... it doesn't make sense Macca is merely resting else he would not have played last week. Ross seems to want to build match fitness with his players, he wouldn't select him one week after an injury then rest him unless there was some kind of injury of concern.
But I hope it is very minor.

Seems unlikely to me. Doesn't make a lot of sense... Luke had only just come back and Ibbo was beginning to show some nice form. I think it is what they say it is.

I can honestly say that I wasn't certain Hill was a "rest" last week. With his history of soft tissue injuries... quads in particular... I favoured it being a genuine injury rather than a disguised rest.

Nah, they're real injuries - given both have missed so much footy, Ibbo in particular has been slowly building and really needs the extended run.

This is would be real injury type stuff and it sucks for both of them - calf strains are the sort that hang around too. Unless it's extremely minor, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both miss another week or so too, then the bye ... :( for them.

Wow. Bummer to see Luke and Ibbo out. Still, best game for it I suppose and looking forward to seeing Mora hopefully start the match and get a few touches and big Apeness pulling in a few marks in dry conditions.

Starting to have serious concerns about Luke's longetivity, unfortunately this might be his last year. But looking forward to seeing how the ape goes when he isn't taking the best defender.

Phil Davis is a pretty handy defender. If the teams line up as shown on the AFL website then Apeness will be getting their best tall defender again.

I had a look through training reports...was there any warning with McPharlin during the week? He wasn't mentioned as missing at training on the Freo website. I am hoping the club is taking an ultra conservative approach to him.

I wonder with Ibbotson and McPharlin if these are injuries they play through during the game or they occur in recovery. Watching the game I wouldn't have thought there were any issues with those two.

He was jogging around on the track this week. I'd say it's Freo's term for rested unless he did a calf hopping out of bed.
