GWS can play terrific footy when they are on song but we have a game plan that is like smashing into the wall of a castle for young teams like this.

Yeah. Was noted that GWS give up a lot of goals from turnovers - same as Melbourne gave us. I can predict how the game is going to go already. GWS will overpossess coming out of the backline, make disposal errors going forward and cough it up to our backline/get crunched by pressure and give it up in the middle, and we'll kick goals.

Young/inexperienced teams just can't work their way though our game plan like the better teams can, and don't have the body strength to go to stoppage after stoppage and come up against Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow, Crowls, Sandi etc.

Sylvia and Mora will also be running through there. More men vs boys really. GWS are only in their third year. With the exception of their seasoned recruits, they won't have the strength and won't have the endurance to match it with us for four quarters either. We can't get complacent though because they did knock of the Swans earlier in the year and were roughly a kick short of beating Hawthorn. If our boys come to play we should win by around ten goals.

Mumford free to play, offered a reprimand, I'd now consider resting Clarke & attacking Mumford with two bigger bodies by bringing in Griff.

Obviously only if he needs a rest - I can just picture Ross telling me now that "Zac hasn't come into my office and offered up his spot in the team"

Most if not all of Clarke's really good performances have come when he's the No.1 ruckman. If there is any rest to be had it's for Sandi.

Agree that Clarke is at his best when I nthe ruck but I wouldn't rest Sandi against Mumford - he is a beast and will even cause Sandi some headaches.

True, but Ross has also said many times that "My responsibility is to win games of football". I take it that his responsibility includes games of finals football.

Yep, they'll be physically and mentally spent by the last quarter and it will open up drastically and produce near unopposed forward entries for us.

The Sandi/Mummy battle should be a beauty, after crushing Minson/Naitanui (lol)Jacobs etc so far this year Mumford is the last true challenger left for Sandi to dismantle.

One thing that probably needs to be considered is the fact that we have a 6 day break leading into St Kilda away followed by a 5 day break to play Carlton at home on a thursday night. They will need to manage workloads over the next few weeks.

5 day break?? surely not?!

Is it not coming off the bye maybe?- because i cant remember the last time a team was handed a 5 day break except for when ANZAC day is mid-week

We play saints Sat 19th July.. then Carlton Thurs 31st July... Week Break...

Round 23 doesn't get scheduled until a week or 2 before to put all the teams that are out of finals contention on the Sunday...

OK my mistake, I just assumed it was the following week. Phew... Thanks for clearing that up.

Do you guys think a win against Hawthorn and Port at the end of the year is more important than a win against Brisbane away between them?
Well, I have no idea wether it is better to get underestimated or having gained confidence from beating a really good side. Apart from that a win is a win...

My thinking is that when we play Griffin in place of either Sandilands or Clarke we do not drop a heap in terms of ruck prowess. But we have significant benefits.

1: if Sandi is out Clarke spends more time in the ruck which is a benefit if he is required to step up.
2: Griffin gets to play amongst his afl temperature mates as opposed to wafl. Gets a decent feel for what his afl role would be and how he would rotate if required.
3: Either of Sandilands or Clarke get a rest. Is Sandilands crashing into Mudford really the best thing for him this weekend?

I remember sandi giving mumford a lesson at their last meeting.

Will be a great contest. Mumford will want to peg one back.

I thought the battle between he and minson ended up reasonably even.

In: Pavlich, Hill, Johnson
Out: Apeness, Sylvia, Pearce

God it must be hard for the selection panel...
