Not as the expense of Spurr, no.
Who said at the expense of Spurr?

Wow some make some poor connections, based on nothing.

I never said dropped either.

Anyway whatever, I was just making my suggestions and thought Spurr drew the 'will get a rest card'. My suggestion of Crowley is also highly unlikely, but again that's why we speculate. Griffin will also likely not come in.

It will likely be

In: Pav and Johnson
Out: Zac and Mayne (both rested)

After being at training yesterday, I think we might add Crozier, Pav and Johnson to the 22 from last week.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Clarke rested so Apeness can play his role and maybe even Barra. Pav will be straight in and MJ will be in pending passing the fitness test tomorrow. Clancee would be the one to make way for MJ I'd think.

Can't see Deboer or Sheridan getting a crack but they would be next in line after their wafl form...

Nobody is going to be "rested". We have to win every game in the next 4 weeks to make top 4. When have we ever rested anyone except St Kilda last year when the result was irrelevant.

Nobody is going to be "rested".

If Pav is going to return, Johnson is coming back in, and Apeness and Morabito both keep their spots, someone is going to be left out of the team.

This means they will be dropped or rested, and no one really deserves to be dropped after that game, except Clancee maybe.

Our official injury list:

Alex Silvagni Ribs test
Matt Taberner Hamstring test
Michael Johnson Knee test
Stephen Hill Quad 2 weeks
Michael Walters Ankle 2-6 weeks

Pretty decent this late in the season. Really looks like we reached that stage where not everybody deserving it gets a spot. Everybody had those problems making up a team during preseason. So we really have a bit of luxury, since we really have to drop/rest some players. Surely there will be a few players carrying niggles, why not rest them, until they are seen as absolutly needed for a good result...

Dropping players is much different to resting them.

We are going to play our strongest possible team. If we drop any of these next few games we miss the top 4. If we "rested" a player and lost it could cost us a premiership. We have a bye coming up shortly anyway, they can rest then.

Pav was just rested. Yeah he may have been sick, but replace Melbourne with Geelong and Pav plays.

Not resting a sore player could also cost us a premiership.

I am thinking one of Clarke\Sandilands will be rested this week.

Im thinking C.Pearce out for Johnson and Pav in for Sylvia. Mora or Suban then plays as a sub. I wouldn't mind if they rested Clarke as I still think his knee isn't 100%. Crozier might play if Clarke is rested as I don't think they would pick Griffin, Sandy and Apeness in the same team.

It's more adding to our depth rather than the resting which could be a bonus if they have niggles etc.

It would be a lot to ask some of our players rated 25-35 to come in for finals if we need them if they haven't played all year. As we saw with the Luke and MJ injuries we were forced into Tabs going back which wasn't ideal.

We need the fringe players to have an opportunity or two where possible so they can adapt if dreaded injuries occur.

Pav was not rested. Why would they have flown him to Darwin if they were going to rest him? Doesn't make sense.
I have no doubt he was ill. That said IMO if it wasn't Melbourne and we were playing a better side, he'd have suited up and played.

They didn't see the need to push him through it and hence he was rested.

There are probably a few in the same boat right now.

You can't honestly tell me that if that game was a final, that Pav would've flown home ill?

Playing a better side is even more reason not to play someone who is ill and can't contribute.

If Pav was well enough to play last week, he would have played. You act as if all the sides we are playing now are walkovers to the extent that we can afford to rest our best players and still beat them. That's simply not true, the competition is a lot more even than that.

On current form, that is exactly what has happened. Missing Pav, Hill and Johnson we crushed Melbourne.

Wowsers! So last week is a final and Pav doesn't play? Yeah ok. He'd play even if he was on his death bed. Hence he was rested. When was the last time you saw a player removed prior to a final through illness?

Resting our best players? Who said anything about that?? Now you're taking my comments to the extreme.

Check my teams again.

I'm certainly not entertaining the idea of resting our stars. Clown.

With the way the table is at the moment it could also be said that not playing our best team every week could cost as a home final. With the bye coming up in two weeks I would be very surprised if we rested anyone who isn't able to play. Clarke might rest due to injury concerns, not because we are resting anyone. The difference between last year and this year is the extra bye. Sandy IMO is a player who needs to play every week top keep his touch. I can't see him missing a game at this point in the year.

If he is too sick to get out of bed, why would we play him in a GF? It would be like playing with 17 men. He didn't play last week because he couldn't.

I think besides "resting players" or dropping them, there will be some perceived best 22 players (this year and next year) that they will want to get game time into asap. Hence Mcpharlin coming straight in last week, Johnson will come straight in this week. Apeness will get a few games. Walters will come in ASAP, Morabito will play as long as he is able to. I see don't see Sylvia being dropped even when Walters returns, and i don't see Deboer getting a game unless there are a few injuries to midfield/ small forwards.
If Johnson and Pav come into this weeks team I would assume C. Pearce and either mayne or crowley to come out. I don't see the point in tagging anyone at GWS so possibly crowley out.
Guess we'll know tonight
