Rd 16 was an unexpected festival of the donut for some as SPs Gawn and Cripps unsurprisingly missed, Caleb Daniel remained out with a hamstring strain, and they were joined by others on the sideline in the course of the round, most notably SP Travis Boak, the Port silver fox the latest of late outs just minutes before the first bounce of the Showdown.

It will have been rough on existing owners, but spare a thought for anyone who brought him in and missed the late breaking news that he would be withdrawn with shagger's back.

The rpound was tinged with tragedy as SP Marty Hore went down early with injury on 3, his untimely passing serving up unfortunate owners not only an underpant stain which will outlast religion but also seeing him dropping hugely in value along the way, shedding more than 50k and landing at 357k. Good night, sweet prince.

MJ also had big Marty on field. Happens to the best of us.

Zac Merrett was gurning harder than Travis Johnstone in a Torquay caravan park in the offseason, seeing stars after a knock to the head that left him with blurred vision and owners flat as a tack as he scraped and clawed his way to a 59, asking every second opponent if they knew what his name was and where he could find his mummy along the way.

There were several other waifs and strays staining the collective underpant and the simple truth of the matter is that there's carnage every year, there will be this year, too, and it will be the ability to deal with it on the run home that will separate the wheat fom the chaff.

West Coast Eagles vs. Collingwood (OS) (N)

The round opens with a Grand Final rematch, the Eagles hosting the Pies this time around, having had their measure in recent encounters.

West Coast:

Luke Shuey
scored 109 and continued his recent solid scoring trend. He has risen to 555k which is mild overs for a 106 season average and he probably doesn’t have a high enough ceiling to warrant selection and your final MID upgrade given other value propositions. He does have a solid recent scoring history against his next three opponents.

Elliot Yeo disappointed owners with a 76, but this doesn’t really tell the whole story. Yeo is a genuine two-way player and he kept Nat ‘Teen Wolf’ Fyfe effectively in check, so whlle the SC community’s Chol may have stood at half-mast, Adam Simpson will happy been as happy as a pig in s**t with Yeo-Yeo’s game.. He’s dropped back to 562k with a BE of 163

Andrew Gaff went for 106 after recent back-to-back 89s. On a weekend where many MID SPs were absolutely off their chops, that was ultimately middle of the road, He got plenty of the footy, but most of his possessions were uncontested and he racked up a few clangers in admittedly difficult conditions.

Shannon Hurn scraped together a ton, letting a golden opportunity slip given that the Dockers recorded 435,571 behinds, gifting him ample opportunity to rack up a few points off kick-ins. With a BE of 111 and a 532k price tag, if he’s your DEF upgrade target, this week seems a good time to get on board the Hurn Express.

Nic Naitanui scored a very solid 88, again off very limited TOG. Only Draft-relevant for now given Adam ‘Grandpa’ Simpson has gone on record stating that NicNat’s TOG will be carefully managed this year. If he ever puts together a season with 80% TOG, he’ll be right up there with the RUC SPs.

He’s priced at 524k with a 124 BE, and his first price movement will be a slight decrease this week.

On a weekend with MID / FWD outs aplenty, those who were forced to field Jarrod Cameron were rewarded handsomely as he navigated the witches’ hats beautifully to snaffle some snags and went for a bloody handy 84. He’s no Robbie Young, but there could be a little something to work with after all.

Collingwood:

Brodie Grundy
recorded a majestic 145. Given he was up against Big Boy McEvoy and a Hawks side which doesn’t tend to allow huge ruck scores, it was a big effort. He’ll be tag-teamed by Hickey and NicNat on Friday, which may lead some to look elsewhere for the VC.

Adam Treloar scored 100 on the dot, passable but not liable to cause many to overexcite on the arousal curve.. Treloar is a streaky player who can go on runs. 546k affordable and potentially OK bang for buck if you think he can nudge up toward 115.

Scott Pendlebury, also scored an even ton and he’s dropped to 496k with a BE of 88, so if you think he can put together a run on the way home, you might look at him, but he’s not the SP of old.

Taylor Adams might be back this week and could be one to look at next week if he does. He could drop down to somewhere around the 460k mark and is capable of 110 if he can avoid injury.

Jordan De Goey has landed in hot water again, nobly taking the fall as his dog was caught using his mobile phone at the wheel. Strong moral compass on Jordy.
******* hurry up, will you, Jordy, we'll miss the Parma and Pot Special if we don't pull our fingers out. Gagging for a froff, mate.

Jack Crisp, realistically more a Fantasy pick, went for a solid 99 again. At 474k, you could go him, but types like Luke Ryan, e.g., will be available at a similar price or cheaper, if you’re after a high ceiling type, or Tom Stewart for just a touch more and a little more consistency. .

Darcy Moore proved his worth for those who fielded him as a DPP swinger in their FWD / DEF line to cover an out with a second consecutive timely century in a side well beaten on the night. He’s risen to 399k with a BE of 33.

Isaac Quaynor looked very assured in his debut and put together a very solid 82 first up. He’ll be on the bubble next week if he continues to get a game, but with Howe, Adams and others potentially in the frame to return, his JS is probably fair to middling at best. His price is ruined for next year. Cheers, Bucks :thumbsu:

If both Gawn and Boak are named this week, who should Westhoff/Lycett cover? Bines plays Friday night so an early call needs to be made by some.

Pyke a lieing campaigner said that Big Sauce will play SAFL but hes on the plane to the Goldcoast.
I wouldn't read too much into that just yet. Crows are having a mini camp on the GC. Took 28 players if I recall correctly. He may still head back to Adelaide prior to the SANFL game. Crows need an injection of speed. Sauce is the opposite of that.
