ESSENDON BOMBERS

We can probably consider “post-gate” dead in the water now. For the second week straight, strangely, we copped the rub of the green from the umpires. Amazing.
A relatively routine win, that. There was nothing overly extreme about it, save for maybe Zac Clarke’s.... Performance.
Skills were concerning again, and the entry into the forward 50 is terrifying.
Shiel with 29 touches in Heppell’s absence was wonderful.
Zaka popped up with what was easily his best performance of the year, with 3 goals in game number 201.
Paul Roos can eat a dick.
3 quarters of ugly footy and 1 quarter of half decent footy isn’t fun. Footy isn’t in a great place right now.
Stringer channeling Roberto Firmino with two off the ground goals on return from injury helped.
Shaun McKernan is turning into a legitimate match winner.

ESSENDON BOMBERS 11.10 76 def. SYDNEY SWANS 9.12 66

BEST: Shiel, Zaharakis, Parish, Saad, Hurley, McGrath
GOALS: Zaharakis 3, McKernan, Stringer 2, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Fantasia, Parish, Langford
INJURIES: Heppell (Foot) replaced in selected side by Langford
REPORTS: Nil

LOL NORF

One of the most form sides of the comp at the moment, Norf are actually going from strength to strength, playing some impressive footy with Rhyce Shaw at the helm.
With that said, they only came up against the Saints last week, who have fallen off the face off the earth again since starting the season so well.
Cam Zurhaar and Nick Larkey ended up with 5 goals each, as Ben Brown is still making his run up to goal a week later.
Jy Simpkin is standing up in Shaun Higgins’ absence, with 36 touches against the Saints.
After their awful start to the season, the Roos are now borderline finals material. So are we, however. And we’re in their way.

LOL NORF 17.10 112 def. ST KILDA SAINTS 11.7 73

BEST:
Simpkin, Zurhaar, Goldstein, Larkey, Ziebell, Tarrant
GOALS: Zurhaar, Larkey 5, Brown 3, Ziebell 2, Simpkin, Ahern
INJURIES: Wood (Quad)
REPORTS: Nil

No changes this week, which is both good and bad. Good, because it's looking like a settled line-up. Bad, because no Heppell with a "genetic" foot issue. Plus a puff piece saying he'll be fine for next week. Forgive the skepticism, but after the whole Daniher fiasco, I'm a little concerned.

Norf have ditched Davies-Uniacke and Sam Durdin this week after less than stellar performances against the Saints, and have brought in the experienced Jamie Macmillan alongside Curtis Taylor.

... That's it!

ESSENDON BOMBERS – #9 - DYLAN SHIEL

A big game this week for our superstar recruit, with Shiel knocking up 150 runs on the board. The 26-year old jet midfielder is playing only his 15th game in the red and black, but his 150th has popped up with little to no fanfare. With Shiel's body being as durable as it is, and with his preparation and overall obsession with his fitness and condition, Shiel is a prime candidate for a 300 game career. After a slightly staggered start to his time at Tullamarine, he is now average 27 touches a game alongside 5 tackles. He's not only finding the footy, he's hunting it. Funnily enough, you look at Shiel as a younger player, but he's now the fifth most experienced player on our list; only behind Zaharakis, Heppell, Hurley, and Hooker. With this week's gaming looming as a classic eight point game, Shiel will be one of the key pillars to an Essendon side that will seriously miss its inspirational captain in Dyson Heppell. 15 games in, and already a leader of the midfield, we will need a huge performance from this gun today.

ESSENDON BOMBERS – #25 - JAKE STRINGER

Remember when we were first looking at signing Stringer from the Dogs, and all we heard about him was that he was an immature knob, with infidelity problems and was a genuinely s**t bloke? Well, now that all looks to be a complete load of s**t. Jakey has received praise this week from childhood cancer charity, Challenge - who are the main reason that this week's game is so important in an off-field sense. Jake makes weekly visits to the Royal Children's Hospital, making efforts of his own accord to brighten the gloomy lives of extremely sick children who are battling cancer. It's well known that the Package has two little girls himself, and since he's come to the Bombers, he's making more of an effort to be more of a mature and respectful bloke. Aside from being one of our most dangerous and important players, Jake is now a true Bomber in what he does for the community outside the footy field.

LOL NORF - #7 - JACK ZIEBELL

Ziebell will be out to prove a point this weekend, with his Good Friday performance against us one of the worst he's ever had. 2 touches, being completely destroyed in every facet, a proud player like Ziebell won't want to have a repeat performance against us. You can expect a far more focused effort from the Norf captain today, though he looks to be lined up against arguably the best small defender in the league. His direct opponent, Adam Saad, loves playing against Norf, and loves running around him.

LOL NORF - #TBA – JOSH KELLY

Oh wait lol

SYDNEY premiership coach John Longmire has informed North Melbourne that he will sign a long-term extension at the Swans.

Chased by the Roos with a mega offer for next season, Longmire is close to inking a multi-year contract at the Swans on top of his existing deal for 2020.

Over 32 years, Challenge Cancer Support has become a multifaceted service provider that aims to address the needs of families suffering with cancer. Parents, children, siblings; They're all looked after by this incredible organisation. These services include daily in-hospital support, camps and activity days, parent support, art and musical therapy, ticketing to major events (such as today's game, for example), holiday accommodation and flights, insurance, and financial needs, plus more.

Challenge is a not-for-profit organisation with the sole intention of helping families who are struggling through the worst possible news. Cancer is an aggressive, horrible, crushing disease, that affects quite literally every single facet of life. The Essendon Football Club has been a proud partner of Challenge for a long time now, and has a long-standing relationship with cancer charities. Going back to the days where the club copped a huge fine for wearing yellow armbands in a showing of support for club champion Adam Ramanauskas, to today, where our entire home game is focused solely on improving the lives of kids who need all the help they can get.

Childhood cancer is a cause that is extremely close to my heart, and the fact that our proud club supports organisations that help defenceless children such as the ones we will see today makes my heart swell with pride. After all the crap that the club has been through in the past decade, this is something that builds up respect across the entire footy landscape.

I love this club.

I have NO IDEA how this one is going to go. Norf are a different side as to what they were when we dismantled them in Round 5, but then again, we seem to be on a bit of a roll right now. Who knows, maybe we’ll keep heading in the right direction and make it 5 from 6. For what it’s worth, I think that’s what will happen.

I’m not confident at all, however.

Essendon by 34.

No late outs for us,
Wood out for those campaigners
Damn. I prefer Wood in. The games I've seen him play, he has all the Essendon yips in one player when shooting for goal.

Couldn't hit the side of a barn!!
