No way, so many times they have been so far off.

This is how they seem to have come up with our best players in todays game:
1. Get the stats from the game
2. Sort by dream team scores
3. Name players from the top 7 dream team scores as the best players, making sure to exclude one of the top 6 scores so that it looks less lazy.

Thats 2 weeks in row in big games where our midfield has been smashed. Shows a few things: 1. Shuey is better than some give him credit for; 2. My fears on Priddis in the important games have proved true - no doubt he'll have decent stats and DT points but was a complete liability in both games - teams just tee off against him and given he isnt doing much in centre clearances (much effective) then whats the point? No doubt he'll be great v an average Brisbane side next week ....
3. Our midfield is our weak link. Way too much reliance on the ruckmen to be mids (as evidenced by the use of NN as essentially a ruck rover today) and also to be forwards.... Kerr is good, Gaff emerging, Scooter nowhere near his early season form and the rest have looked a level below 2 top tier midfields ...

5. Gaff

4. Darling
3. Kerr
2. Shep
1. Masten

But seriously you could raffle several after Gaff.

I reckon that is a far better summation than many of the efforts on here (although can't say I'm surprised). Can't believe the hate for NicNat and Priddis.

Priddis is an easy target but was the only mid to consistently win the contested ball when others were getting knocked off it. 16 contested possessions (next best for us was 10), 78% disposal efficiency (but people always remember the 2 or 3 clangers) and 9 clearances (next best was 4). Outside of Gaff comfortably our best mid.

NicNat had a quiet first term but after quarter time I thought was clearly the best ruck on the ground both in terms of ruckwork (although I do realise a few were sharked) and influence around the ground. And all this in a game where the likely All Australian rucks were playing (Jacobs & Cox). Trying watching his game with the volume down as at seems some got sucked in by the commentators calling him lazy.

But no carry on giving votes to Sheppard cause he takes a couple of uncontested marks across half forward or Darling cause he tried his arse off (didn't actually win any of the ball mind you ... but he's a board favourite so he'll be amongst the votes) and then criticise the journo's for not having a clue

So on that note:
5 - Gaff
4 - Naitanui
3 - Priddis
2 - Kerr
1 - Waters

The problem is Priddis is always going to look good on the stat sheet , fact is hes had very little impact in the past 2 games and players just run off him all day and is partly the reason we've been cut up against the top sides. He needs to learn how to play forward so we dont have to play him in the centre square all day.

I agree with this though

Good post, although I'm not so sure about NicNat as he seemed to have been good in sporadic bursts rather than over a longer, extended period.

I thought Waters was excellent in the second half.

5) Andrew Gaff
4) Daniel Kerr
3) Jack Darling
2) Beau Waters
1) Brad Sheppard

Masten unlucky, he's becoming a good goalkicker now too.
