I think it depends if we are offloading Nicholls.
If we do, offer Smith minimum $ on a 1yr deal, and see if he is still happy to join. Gives us injury cover.
Either way, I hope we still draft/rookie a project ruckman to start developing in the reserves next season.
That would have to be the only reason we take him back imo, as injury cover.
I'd rather us put time into Crossley Conroy and Tom, if he stays. But 1yr to Smith would give the young fellas an extra 12 months to improve their trade.

Nicholls is a great bloke and been an excellent clubman, but he is never going to make it as a #1 ruckman. He really is just injury cover for Witts and probs taking 300-400k a season out of our cap?
Offer Smith half that and he can provide the same role for a year or 2?
Frees up cap space?
Sorry l Iove Rischa but can someone tell me the value of playing him with guys like Ellis who need games and possibly have a future /upside. And Heron good Lord why.

Last hurrah? He had minimal impact on games last year, so it's hard to imagine he's party of some master strategy for this game.
I reckon by the end of the season a lot of these borderline players get a go at senior footy to see if they have a future at the club.
Heron has probably been given 2-3 games to show something. May see Dawson and Nutting get the same treatment before the season is out.
I'm happy with Rischa getting a game, but more experience out there, can also lay a tackle.

Cameron was pretty clear in the members podcast today that we won’t be having a big list turn over this year. He said it won’t be anything like last years clean out.
