Kelly hasn't been playing midfield and has been directly replaced by Owies.

Clay Hall is the one keeping Gross out.

Its one or the other right now.

I would more say Gross is an outside running mid who likes to link up.
Hall more of the first use in and under who get's it to Gross.
Therefore he is more competing with the likes of Hewett, Hutch, Brockman even Dewar in that regard.
Either way it is a bit one dimensional to say player A can't play because player B has a similar role and is going fine even if player A is killing it at the lower level. Should be more flexible than that with a team of 23 players.

Don't mind the final squad. Gross missing is a bit bleh but Hall proved you need a solid month of bullshit WAFL form as a mid before the MC notices unfortunately.

But disappointed with Jilliams being dropped tbh. Would've liked to have seen us back him in, like we did A.Reid.

I don't think he can play alongside Bailey Williams. It's better for Jack to be doing ruck chop outs and staying involved in the game more. He doesn't get that with Bailey around, he's pure forward.

I’d have gone Bailey out and kept JWill in to chop out Flynn.

Really wish we got at least one of Chesser or Gross after their WAFL outings. All eyes on tomorrow night’s WAFL to hopefully give us some real selection pressure heading into a winnable home game against Richmond.

Well put it this way - the midfield can't carry another rookie with a tank that is unlikely to last a full game in the middle. Gross would appear to offer little outside of a midfield role at this point in time so I would suggest that Clay Hall is currently the last picked 'specialist mid', and that he is the one that would be most likely to make way for Gross, when the time comes.

Hewett, Hutchinson, Brockman and Dewar all play elsewhere on the field and offer more flexibility than Gross and Hall do, at this point in time.

I think people like the unproven player as there is hope. Brander was a good example.
