Both (in the sense that winning now is secondary)Is this to make us better or to tank?
Im not sure if you have watched any of our games this year but Im quite sure we are capable of losing without deliberately tanking. Is this to make us better or to tank?

There were a number of times this happened, not just with Kelly. I am not against holding the ball up looking for something to happen but the movement was so stagnated from the forwards as well, there weren't many leads on offer. The problem is that the kids replacing kids are no better - it takes time.
Kelly several times held up play because our forward line was full of GWS players and he looked for options. You have to know when to hold
yes, we were belted by a high quality team. The funny part was the posters on here proclaiming we will lose pick #1.There were a number of times this happened, not just with Kelly. GWS had a massive flood on, the forward 50 was packed. Reid's kick to Baker the only kick I can think of that got through it.
Real poor all around last night in off the ball movement across the whole team.
On defence we got cut up through the corridor with some shitty zone that was ineffective and then on offence we looked too gassed to create options for the ball carriers.
I was surprised to see we had 82 marks, it felt like we had 50 and couldn't control the ball at all.
Going from 61 turnovers last week to 93 this week is what killed us. The fumbles were back as were the handballs to shoe laces.

Agreed, holding it up is fine if there's movement and space in front of you. There wasn't that last night and the players needed to make the change.I made this comment in the game day thread; What's to lose by going fast into the forward line to a contest?
When we were a capable team I can understand the idea behind setting up behind the ball to allow for repeat entries. However at this point - and it was especially apparent last night - whether we wait to set up or not the ball was being walked back down the other end with ease for a score. So instead of getting on the front foot and backing our players in to win a contest in our forward line and then at worst it comes out for a score, we hold onto it until our 50 is packed with 30 players, bomb it high to a pack, turn it over, then it goes down the other end for a score anyway.
This was a remnant of the end of the Simmo era that I had hoped/thought we had moved on from. To see it repeatedly last night was nauseating. Making my piss boil just thinking about it right now.
Jumped to contest the footy, got someone high
Not a heap in it, pretty sure the GWS player was fine, but they'll spin the wheel
