Cripps is done.

Hutch needs spell. The amount of turnovers early cost us.

Out Cripps hutch JWilliams.
In malaki gross cole

If we're benching players because of turnovers well then Duggan has had half a season's worth of the unluckiest hack kicks I recall seeing ever in the AFL... I mean he should be able to at least fluke a rushed blind kick to a team mate's vicinity...

Post-WAFL selection

Out: Kelly (“managed”), Cripps, Jilliams, Hutchinson
In: Gross, Cole, AReid, Chesser

Backs: Edwards, Brock, Ginbey, Duggan, Baker, Cole, McCarthy
Mids: Reid, Hewett, Hough, Hall, Maric, Chesser
Rucks: Flynn, Reid
Forwards: Billiams, Shanahan, Ryan, Graham, Brockman, Gross, Champion
Sub: Allan
Emergencies: Cripps (travelling), Bazzo, Hutchinson

Graham to play permanent high half forward in the absence of Cripps, who can have a week off ahead of his 250th. Gross to take his midfield rotations. Ryan and Brockman to also run through there.

Champion into the 22 in the absence of Kelly, who can also have a week off and stay home with the family.

Cole back into the side, Allan back into the dreaded vest. Or Cole as sub, but I feel like we’re short a bit of experience on field.

Reid for Jilliams, he can back up Flynn while Bailey plays permanent forward. I think he takes more pressure off Shanahan up there than Reid does.

Chesser onto the wing for Hutch who can have a run in the twos.

Four changes is about right I think, that performance was unacceptable and we need to reward some of the players who did well in the WAFL (particularly Gross who’s put in two BOGs in a row), but wholesale changes doesn’t help the side build any consistency.

Gross has to be in, otherwise what's the point of kids playing well. Owies will be in. Maybe Newton as well, need to see what he can do in the big leagues before his contract runs out.

Hutchinson -> Chesser
Allan -> Cole
Cripps(rested) -> Owies

If they wanted to "rest" Kelly then sure, swap him out for Long.

JWilliams stays, the whole forward line just didnt work against GWS, not unique to JWilliams.
Duggan doesnt go anywhere lmao its a VERY optimistic suggestion by those people bringing it up.

Gross misses.
There simply is not any midfield rotations available for Gross, and theres nobody worth moving out of the middle.
Reid, Hewett, Hough, and Graham with bits of Ryan.
Gross doesnt push any of those guys out.

If anybody was to get some of the CBAs off those guys its Hall who only had 4% on the weekend.
Hall is ahead of gross, and I want Gross to play midfield only.

Champion to be sub again.

Be interesting to see how married to the idea of zero changes to the 22 Mini is after the next honourable loss.

"Look we've lost the the top side in the comp by a minuscule 30 points, you just can't be messing with that kind of form." Looks a tad precious in hindsight, as selection choices often do.

Would you believe Jamie Cripps hasn't played WAFL football since 2014? ****ing lol, 11 years of first only football. Wild. Will he even remember the rules?

If we made a dozen changes I'd be keen to see how it turned out but realistically I don't see really strong cases to cut too much deeper than Cripps and Jack Williams. Unlike Cripps who's been out of form a solid month now, I think you can argue that Kelly played some pretty good football in the previous games as wasn't as bad as Cripps. Owies should come in for a BOG WAFL performance. Jack Williams for Archer Ried is a given because, well it's Jack Williams and Archer Reid. If there is any player on this list who can not afford not to get a kick in 36% game time its Jack Williams, though he was pretty good against the Pies. Reckon the pace of that game and the 6 day break affected the team as a whole. I see little reason to put Jack Hutch out of the side or swap out Bo Allen for Cole. And if they made Clay Hall wait 4 weeks to come into the side off more possessions than Gross is getting then it'd be fair to make him wait another week.

Fair and reasonable,

Out: Cripps, Jack Williams
In: Owies, Archer Reid

Fun and games,

Out: Cripps, Kelly, Hutchinson, Jack Williams, Flynn
In: Owies, Long, Gross, Chester, Reid

Amount of people who still want Flynn to play is surprising. I think everyone is so hypnotised by his marking they forget he couldnt outruck a totem pole, the thing he is actually paid to do
We have nothing else that's why. No one on our list can ruck any better than him.

Its just accepting a lack of effort as the answer. His performance like Tim Kellys on Friday was 100% unacceptable. Accepting it because we have nothing else is what breeds incompetence. I think we are back to Bailey Williams until the end of the year and moving Archer Reid and Jack Williams as the backups.

Drop Duggan and send a message.
Hopefully not the same message they sent to Kelly. Not received or understood by old mate Tim, who is now back to his disinterested best. The only message he gets is the one the club sent him by giving him another two years on his contract. Back to cruise mode now eh Tim. West Coast are a soft club and prefer not to send "messages". You sow what you reap.

The Beagles had a good win (against a bottom team) with Gross, Chesser, Cole, Bazzo, Long among their best. Owies kicked 4 goals, needs to do that at AFL level.

Fair to say Gross, Chesser, Owies and Cole would be the most likely ins there.
Would like to see Champion get another run at it.

Once again unlikely Kelly or Duggan will get dropped especially against Port, but it's about time? Can't question Duggan's work rate, just his relentless dump kicks.
But yeh, Cole for Allan likely. We need our strongest team against Port and to keep building synergy chemistry. Hope the skills magically improve.

Can they please make Duggan a highlight of the match review and play his vision over and over, while all chanting "no more dump kicks" (run it out, handball, lower your eyes)

Hutchinson looks out of his depth and lost
Thank you for saying this. I've thought this for our past three or four matches. Isn't a midfielder, not much of a wingman. I think his only hope is on a HFF which is hard since Kelly has been put there to try and reinvent his career.

What's worse is we've signed him for another four years. Regardless of if he's on peanuts or not, what has he actually shown to warrant an extension of that length?

I wouldn't be opposed to Bailey Williams playing the rest of the season as the first ruck and letting the 3 young talls own the forward line. The other side to this is Bailey Williams is best utilised as a 2nd ruck and as a forward who kicks goals. He's doing that now and thats the spot we want him to play longer term so leaving him there is no different to playing Hewett, Reid and Hough in the guts and letting them figure it out. Archer Reid has been given a solid look at it for his development but in reality would be playing WAFL if Allen was still out there and Jack Williams was playing well.

It comes down to the fact that Jack Williams [who also is better in the ruck than Flynn according to many] just isn't fit enough to split the ruck role 70/30 with Williams and Flynn is. Flynn might not be as fit as the other first rucks out there but he's fitter than his nearest competitor in the team so what can you do other than delay Baileys development again?

Also probably worth considering that although he's 27 Flynn has never played done the full pre-season full season combo until this year. He hasn't broken down yet which is amazing really, but the end of the season probably can't come soon enough for him. He needs multiple years of being consistently out on the park to build the fitness to play the role at the top of his ability. If we can get him through the remaining games and then through another pre-season we are in a much better position next season. Let him get to 50 games [will be this week] and get though his first full season. He is pretty good around the ground, needs to add a bit of bulk to improve his ruck work but you can't build muscle during the season and it was more important to get him fit enough to play without breaking down first I reckon.

He's just very average. A downhill-skier at best. When the tide is against us, he doesn't provide much.
He's been one of our most improved players this year and contributed again the other night.

In no danger of losing his spot currently.
