If we had no JHF Butters and Georgiades we would legitimately be at 2011-2012 levels

Richards is a breath of fresh air as a small that exceeds in the wet similar to butters which we havent had since r gray. Similarly with Wines just wins the in and under bull like ground balls which the eagles severly lacked

People were giving shit to Moraes for his lack of impact as sub when he had one kick/one goal when all the hype for lorenz netted him 1 handball and 1 tackle in 21% game time. Literally forgot he was our sub

Lord justifying my pregame post that he is utterly useless. Let his man come off him and come third in against georgiades/luko. When he was actually in a decent position would continually spoil his own man (saw it happen to sweet maybe 3-4 times)

Thought Liddy was okay. Some good ball use

Pre season pretty much anyone with footy IQ knew that Luko is a lead and mark type player N Riewoldt style yet we bomb it to his head when hes not built for that. Didnt help that Lords defender always came in to help

I agree with your comments about Richards, Liddy, Wines and Lord.

Ollie Lord should be shown the door as he simply is not and is unlikely to ever be an AFL footballer as he lacks basic skills and looks out of his depth at this level. He simply does not impose himself on the game enough.

Richards third quarter was exceptional and he has pace to burn and good skills to go with it. He was one of the few positives in an otherwise lacklustre performance.

Liddy and Jackson are both worth persevering with.

The way we deliver the ball to Lukosius is typical Hinkley but Jack went missing in the first half and he must do better. At one stage I posted that Ken should give him a run in defence to see if that would get him into the game and bolster our defence but that would be too radical for Ken to contemplate.

I’m not sure I agree with getting rid of Lord yet, but I acknowledge he has done a whole lot of nothing. I think it’s still in the clubs interest to give him the rest of the season.

Ollie Lord just doesn't look like an AFL key forward, I know he had one good final vs the Lions but I can never see him having a 40 goal AFL or SANFL season. Why would we play a 200cm forward if he cannot even compete?

Also I have doubts that Lukosius will ever have a presence in the forward line, I would much prefer to play him off the wing or half back because his skills around the ground are a weapon

Hopefully Doug Cochrane will be the answer for our forward line, I would be throwing money at Oscar Allen as he would be perfect next to Georgiades and Marshall

Telling that the biggest cheer for the year was the meme celebration for Boak finally kicking a go ahead/crucial goal after about 30 attempts over the years.

Against the wooden spooners 😂

Harley Reid is verrrrrrrrry unlikeable too. What a f-head. Feel like our lippiness was in response to his floggish behaviour. Pretty sure he shushed the crowd which doomed the Weagles from that point.

Dogshit. Embarassed ourselves. 16 other sides would have beaten us in 2nd gear. Glad we have Hinkley the Anthony Alesiani Last Dance though.

Mate. Stability’s the key.

You think Collingwood went from 17th to a flag inside two seasons by sacking their coach, President, List Manager, and shipping their two highest-paid players for cents on the dollar?!

Especially when they didn’t even need to be shooshed, atmosphere and noise was non-existent.

Fun Fact: This mob lost more games by 100+ points in 2023 (5) than Port has lost in 29 years in the comp (4).

But remember 2012!?

Their list is better than ours m8

It’s criminal to have him out there like that and anymore damage done to him should be somebody’s job.

He went off early for attention to his already strapped knee and it appears the physios said We know what you need. More strapping! And back out he went.

Reid spends all his time flopping and being aggressive to the crowd. JHF is aggressive to the opposition and rips through tackles by keeping his feet.

JHF utterly schooled him.

That moment when Reid did the 'yapping' thing with his hand towards Horne-Francis, who then went on to kick two incredible goals out of nowhere.

I wish I could have heard what was said to Reid after that.

He went the shush in the first quarter. Absolute flog.

He'll probably be running around for Geelong in the coming years which will make him even more hateable.

Was anticipating Ken to do a scampish little lolly teeth joke like last week 🤓

That really brought the house down.
That Ken is just such a wild and crazy guy 🥳

Sadly, he didn't do it 😫

Ah well, another half dozen games to pull another funster style trick from his box of hilarity.

Reid for a 19 year old in a historically shit team was pretty good yesterday. Once he gets some help that guys gonna absolutely destroy the place, he is clearly going to come on and dominate. Can't really blame him for losing his shit each week considering he gets all the attention every week including a tag yesterday.

Feeling the need to even tag against West coast though is a sad reflection on us and our let's have fun coaching to finish off this abysmal year.

We still get far too little return for so many inside 50s. I dream of a team that is efficient.
A big reason for the inefficiency is game plan related. Port usually re-enter a F50 with about 16 opposition players in it.

What I think Jackson shows to me, is that our recruiters are too busy prioritising outside types, that look smooth, but there is a clear need for players to win the ball and that contested ball ability, vision, execution in the heat of the modern game is far too underrated and our club needs to start drafting with a different focus.

Jackson's ability to win 1:1's to farm out key handballs, to operate with the sort of vision of an inside mid, in the contested modern game is adding a lot of value. He is not quick in space, he's not a great link runner/ball user like a Farrell, but he wins contests, he uses quick reflexes to turn contested ball situations into attacking opportunities for us.

I'm probably using a bit of confirmation bias here, but I've been saying for a long time that we draft too much outside talent, and our slowness and weakness in the contest, which makes us poor at the 'chaos' game, is due to the fact we don't have enough natural, quick reflexed, inside types like Jackson in our team and squad. And when you see Jackson doing his thing on the outside, it says to me that I'm right.

I certainly never in a million years thought he could work as an outside mid, but he is, and he should be given some more opportunity to see how far he can take it.

I would consider Ramm to play even if he is too raw because the defensive six just looks lost.
Our defensive system looks lost so what we should do is add in a guy who has been training at it for the last month.
Watched the game muted after learning that it was Brereton and Ricciutto on commentary.
Triple M Adelaide with the real hold my beer version of this in deciding to add Tex Walker to the commentary team.

They showed Aliir getting treatment on the bench at the end of the first. The way he was reacting then, I thought we were going to be down to just BZT as a tall defender for 3/4 of the game.

It might end up being BZT, Bergman and Jones for the rest of the year against the Hawks, Crows, Cats, Freo and Suns who all have powerful big forwards.
