I did some research just for you Mike.

Ibbotson currently ranked at #52 for small/medium defenders. Duffield (#42) and Spurr (#44) both ahead of him and neither has any prospect of being selected AA.

Not sure I'd go by afl player rankings. McPharlin was ranked 145th a few years back.

You wouldn't be talking about the crucial mark he took that was passed to Mundy resulting in the winning goal today? He read it beautifully.
1 good act wiping out the memory of 49 poor ones? You're in Danyle Pearce territory there.

How tall do GWS normally go, do they run a resting ruck forward often ?
If not, I'm not sure Dawson is needed .....

The giants play very tall

Mcarthy will be back next week to partner with Cameron. Cameron was goalless without him today

They don't play a resting ruck forward because they don't have to

They will have Cameron, Mcarthy, Thomilson forward. And I popped into training this week for a squiz and Jon Patton reckons he will be pushing for selection for the freo game

I get to all the giants games over here in Sydney so anyone can hit me up with any questions they like too

Nope. Reid for Collingwood made it that season and Luke was very unlucky. He did the following and was just as good.

Do you honestly gage players on the afl rankings?
No. I gauge them by what I see. The rankings just back me up. They certainly don't point to a possible AA selection.

Freo have to stop the GWS wave running forward. I have found the last 6 weeks opposition have been getting way too much space on us through the midfield. If that happens next week the giants will carve us up through the middle. They won't have the maturity to beat us, but it's one thing Ross will have to be careful of.

Also they play a lot worse if Ryan Griffin gets some attention. He is a general through the midfield along with Ward. Stop those 2 firing and Treloar then won't get near it either

We are playing GWS at home, and since beating Hawks early in the year they haven't really beaten anybody of note. If ever there was an opportunity to rest our older and sore guys to give young ones a go, this is it.

Fyfe needs a break and now possibly Clancee. Maca is looking in need of a break, as does Sandi.

If we went this way, then Weller is an obvious in, even if sub. Dawson may be able to give Maca the rest. Clarke for Sandi should be okay. This just leaves Clancee and perhaps Blakely fits in here. De Boer probably gets a full game inside with Fyfe resting.

We don't usually make this many changes, but we don't get GWS at home very often either and we need to manage players.

no rest for Fyfe unless he cant play. we cant afford slip ups. this might be the last chance for Pav and luke Mac ever so screw that! Deboer may need a run at Peel after being the sub again and Clancy Pearce is the only injury cloud. So the opportunity for Weller or Ballard or Blakely may get a shot. otherwise forget the potshoting at D.Pearce. despite his inaccuracy he still created 5 chances. also he is our leading inside forward 50 stat. no way Ross would drop him like no way Ross would drop Mayne and Ballantyne. Griffen is interesting. I favour his physicality over Clarke and his honest efforts. however his decision making today/turnovers is inviting scrutiny. though i think he deserves another shot as he will become more comfortable hopefully and Clarke has been dropped twice. let it play out. Taberner I thought showed small signs today but getting subbed when it was a windy turnover day seemed harsh, as at that stage our inside 50s was not working in our favour, but we got the result. I would like him to be perservered with. I know this is inviting Football karma but i thought Luke mcpharlin looked super lively today. how many gun spoils did he have over Rieldwolt jumping high and fast. did not look tired

You haven't been on the apple cider since the move to tassie?
I had a XXXX today at a function to support the sponsor and then had to drink half a dozen ciders to get the taste out of my mouth.

Since I moved to Tassie I've had so much Mercury I'm running a temperature.

I would've surprised if Danyle Pearce gets dropped but he should be on notice. His kicking today was the kind of thing that could cost the game.

And his problem is this isn't a once off. He is unable to perform on the big stage.
Danyle is a pretty crap kick. Not sure why have has a reputation of being a quality left footer. He regularly shits himself in front of goal.

Because he can kick long distance and get it into the 50.

looks like D.pearce is back on the knockers hit list. Mayne and an injured Ballas must be breathing easy. maybe even Suban. jeepers even Pav was mentioned as an out a couple of weeks ago. still flabbergasted over that

lol AFL rankings are rubbish, wouldn't use it to justify who is better.
Perhaps they are rubbish, but it's pretty easy to see that if those rubbish rankings place you behind 51 other players you couldn't be considered to be in AA contention. It's not that hard a concept to grasp.

Agree that Fyfe and Macca need a rest however not sure its likely to happen. C. Pearce might need a week or two so... cant figure the changes at all after watching Peel tomorrow might have a better understanding.
