Round 17 was an eventful one to sat the least, with many recording personal best scores on the back of stellar performances from Nat Fyfe, Josh Dunkley, Patrick Dangerfield and Brodie Grundy, allowing their owners to belt out stellar 2,500+ scores as their teams round into SC finals form.

But there is no light without shadow. And so it came to pass that honest, hardworking SuperCoaches throughout this great nation were dealt a huge blow on the run home as their matchups were torpedoed by a Stephen Cognilio playing zero due to injury.

This left them high and dry in matchups with him as a unique and with trades running low and some already running on fumes, those without solid cover will be in a tight spot and set to feel the pinch as sure as night follows day in the coming weeks.

With only two rounds to go before finals commence, those with only leagues to play for and just outside the eight will be throwing caution to the wind and trading ultra-aggressively this week in an effort to win their next two matchups and hopefully just squeak into the real stuff and live to fight another day.

Those fortunate enough to be firmly ensconced in the top 4, or even at least just fairly certain of remaining in the top 6, may choose to conserve trades this week and deploy them strategically over the coming weeks.

Those whose sole / main focus is overall will for the most part be down to ‘break class in case of emergency’ trades or out of them altogether and will be working mainly on the edges looping D6/D7 types and the like and hoping that their own low ownership types put in a solid 6-rd block and that one or two commonly owned blokes they don’t have get put in cotton wool early or stain the underpant.
710344

There might also be the odd play around C/VC strategies for those with a steady hand (as seen in recent weeks, Grawndy will almost always guarantee you an acceptable C score, but it will sometimes leave you a fair bit short of an alternative with a good matchup that particular week, so it is a trade-off at times).

And some might already have waved the white flag for the year in the face of a relentless reaming by the SC gods. A quick look around leagues shows that there a couple of genuine ghost ships drifting aimlessly on the high seas at this stage of proceedings. It’s not really a flash way to go about it as it can cause massive swings in percentage and decide over finals chances of teams jockeying for positions.

So kids at home…

… your team might be stone motherless last, you might break out in a rash and risk PTSD every time you log on and cop a load of the collection of useless turdburglars you’ve somehow had the misfortune to select / be stuck with this year, but when life gives you lemons, you make the most delicious, refreshing lemonade going around!

If you’re going to go down, then for Christ’s sake go down swinging*, and never, ever let the bastards see you sweat!

*Unless you own Gussy Brayshaw or traded out SP Junkley / SP Lycett during the season, in which case may God have mercy on your soul, you poor campaigner... this is all I've got:

some interesting stuff on CBA's from last round. (i saw the link while browsing SCS so thanks Professor)

Yeo doing a lot of the work for WCE, likewise Dylan Clarke at Essendon.
Crisp, Simpkin, Greene, Wingard, Walters and Milera all spending more time in there than i'd expect.

Rockys numbers are down with Boak back and possibly Sutcliffe and SPP getting in the way.
Olivers numbers are inexplicably low for one of the best clearance players in the comp. o_O

Brodie Smith as well. Noticed 2 Centre Bounce Clearances on his stat sheet from the last game.

Forget Rocky.

Boak's numbers are down.

This weeks dedication goes to a BF SC forum legend Kadog who's had a ripper season so far. Currently ranked 41st on the back of making some ballsy selections earlier in the year. Credit to you for backing your own gut & good luck for the remining rounds, mate. Hopefully Pendles & Jelly return soon and you can give the top10 a shake.

And hopefully Ross the dick actually plays Blakely midfield.

He is about the only other coach I know that has Blakely.

Brodie Smith finally getting a run in the midfield / wing ....ADEL midfield too slow ... injecting more pace via Smith & Milera

Should see their scores improve

Hope they score 2 points.....combined.

C'mon, bring on the carnage...

To other teams :straining:

Popular players that are missing already or likely to miss?
Hore
Kelly
Cogs
Pendles
Bont
... growing list & minimal trades = carnage!
Although, Hately, Duursma & Logue are likely to come back & soften the blow
