If we need to play one of Reville or Marshall this year, I'd like to see how the latter does in the starting 22.

Reville has struggled to have much of an impact when he has to play a large chunk of the game this year.

Marshall did some nice things. Found himself in the right spots and made the right decisions.

THE GOOD

Will Aschcroft always does some weird things - his mid-air jackie chan kicks were not working - but damn he is a gun. 3 snags is a fair effort

Oscar - just looked way better. I would be playing him next week and Day in for Fort. It's unlucky but every ruck knows the deal. Fort is first back-up and has a prem medal already

Dunks - just about our best player at the moment.

Lester - really stepped up when needed. Wasn't at the game but came across like he just read the play really well as well.

Harris - got a bit lost a couple of times but clamped down on Darcy pretty well, apart from the fact Darcy got 5 free kicks! Next best... Naughton with 3. Darcy was getting some really marginal stuff.

Fletcher - just has so much poise. Will be a complete gun

Hippy - hear me out. Had a poor game overall. His kicking was woeful. But he keeps trying. Doesn't drop his head. and is always team oriented. Little taps he does often lead to goals. He is what he is, he has hot patches and then goes missing a bit. but he is a handful to match up on

THE BAD

Fort / Oscar whacking it on the boot - several times tonight they had clear handball options. It killed us. Cost us 2 goals from turnover alone

Goals out the back - gee they kill us. They just looked so stoppable tonight - we were there, had players there, but nobody would kill it. I think starce looked better at times tonight but did allow a couple

THE UGLY

Goalkicking - no point dwelling on it but it could cost us this year, it's not happening every week but it's happening too much

Our use of the sub - i will say it every week if i have to. It's deplorable. The dogs were getting uncontested marks on the wing early in the last getting back in to the game IMAGINE if the best runner at your club was sitting as an unused sub?!? and the swanny says fagan hates the sub because Marshall didn't get a run YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PUT THEM ON EARLIER LADS rant over :)

Froggy was back to his best tonight, took on the intercept and spoiling roll from Harris who had to look after the beanstalk and Harris blanketed him, if it wasn't for the free kicks Darcy would have hardly had a touch.

It had the feel of a comfortable win at the ground for most of the night, just could not put them totally away because of inaccuracy.

Fab 5- Lester, Ashcroft, Ashcroft, Dunkley, McCluggage.

Darcy had 13 disposals, 5 marks, 5 free kicks. Probably 2-3 were there. So yeah without an arm chair ride 10 disposals is not much

They didn't seem to go to him or isolate him as much as the Norwood game. I get Naughton is in decent form, but they seemed to underutilise Darcy close to goal

Get in here 3KZ is Football because I’m giving votes to your boy. Two HUGE defensive efforts by the Frog late in the game. Dare I say it, match winning moments.

I thought Big O showed a lot of improvement tonight, looked a lot more mobile around the ground and clunked a couple of good marks early in the F50.

One brain fade had me pulling my hair out in the 3rd quarter though, got the ball on our attacking 50 arc and blasted it forward straight to a Bulldogs player... he had 2-3 Lions free running towards goal and ignored them.

Umpires get paid way too much. The Umps, commentary and AFL all wanted the Dogs to win.

Liked this game. The scoreboard was misleading. If Morris and Hipwood hit their shots that game, the game looks very different.

Next week, we take the Omac or Fort out. Was funny against a worse team last week, but this week it stood out like a sore thumb. I know some posters don't like Day, but he is important for our structure.

Please give Marshall a shot at some point coaches, that kid is the future. Would've rather have him subbed off for Bruce.

Also, get used to Gardiner and his brainfades. He was good tonight, but needs to stop being cute with his kicks.

I really hope Sam Marshall gets some decent opportunities and game time.
He is class. 19 yo, 2nd game, comes on in a high pressure, high stakes situation with the game on the line and nailed his moments.
Sam Marshall strikes me as one of those unique players that plays better as he progresses up the levels of footy.

Wrong sub again tonight IMO, Marshall is an endurance freak so can run out a full game, Reville is a burst impact player, perfect sub.

The first quarter they were really good. Thought we had something going on. Fell apart quick. Fort was caught out of position and Oscar went back to hitting it straight to the opposition in very dangerous positions.

Big O grabbing the ball out of the ruck in the last minute and knowing that he could get tackled and not be pinged because it doesn't count as prior opportunity

Bruce - proven effective sub who can impact a game with great kicking, but struggles to run out games
Marshall - best runner at the club in a week we are missing Bailey and Fletcher is needed at half back

Lions MC - so Marshall the sub yeah?

Whatever Cal didn't do all night what he did at that last centre clearance was worth its weight in gold.

He isn't shining with the weight of the leaving decision hanging over his head.

Before finals he should just come out and say I'm leaving but I'll give you my everything before i go. Might set him up for another best in finals performance.
