I can't understand the people writing off players who have shown something under this shitful regime. Fair enough criticising -Mead, McEntee etc but if you have been able to show glimpses in the structure-free zone Hinkley has implemented, I think there is more likely than not something there for Carr to work with.

I was thinking it'd be nice if someone - anyone - in the club called out the bias in the umpiring, especially when we look like getting any momentum. I think 4 of the first 5 opposition goals were from gifted free kicks.

Then I realised that as Koch, Davies and Hinkley are ALL angling for bigger roles within the AFL, the chances of any of them sticking up for their Club is zero. We're just cannon fodder at this stage.

Between Port and GWS, across 21 match-ups with Victorian opponents this season, they have 'won' the free kick count 3 times. The odds of only winning 3 coin tosses out of 21 are about 1 in 1600, meaning this is not simply misfortune - it is an outlier that must be called out.

Im critical of his offensive game, his kicking, run, dash and line breaking ability from his juniors has not translated to AFL level. Defensively he has been very good, doesn't get many goals kicked on him and shuts down the dangerous smalls around the league, but this is not the player we drafted, the hope is Carr can unlock his offensive ability, if this happens he will become an absolute gun.
After spending the last decade watching the dangerous small forwards tear us up, I'll take his defensive work as good, with offensive as a work in progress over the reverse. Like all skills you can try and teach them, but knowing where to go defensively is mostly something players seem to either 'get' or not. Confidence in himself and his body should lead to his offensive side improving. Even if it doesn't, finally having a player who can do something against those quick small forwards would have him earning his place each week.
