I agree should have played Abbott from Dogs game onwards but better late than never I guess.

I think playing Abbott today is too risky. Apart from Ruckwork, what are his strengths?

Perhaps I'm too old fashioned or conservative. . .I'd prefer a settle team, which we know plays well together.

First goal: Hawkins
Last goal: Ablett
Most goals: Hawkins
Most marks: Hawkins (as long as its not kicked on his head)
Most disposals: Duncan
Most tackles: Scooter

Cats by plenty to make a statement after last weeks effort

I've got a feeling we are going to play really well tonight. I think we can win all of our remaining games, bar the Tigers game, if we play some good football. If we can finish 5th or 6th, that will be a good result from here. Tonight, I just want to see good footy across the 4-quarters. I'm not expecting us to dominate all 4-quarters and have it all on our terms, but I don't want to see us serve up putrid footy where we struggle to even score for an entire quarter.

We need to bridge the gap between our best and worst footy and ensure when the game is not on our terms, we are still able to stem the bleeding and even score against the trend when we can. I'm tipping Menzel to bounce back and Hendo to be really, really rusty like Menz was last week. I'm hoping Kolo can turn it around too, he has looked really wobbly in recent times. Menegola to dominate tonight.

How fantastic would a repeat of this be?

Pull your finger out and kick 38 for the outright record you campaigners.

I was there that day and I reckon the main reason they didn't break the record was that the game dragged on for so long (on account of the number of goals scored by US) that they ran out of daylight and couldn't see more than 20 metres in front of them.

I'm going to hold this to you if this doesn't happen you know;)

Home ground advantage is a tick in our favor, but it'll be foolish underestimating the Dee's. This is not the side we thrashed a few years ago, this is a side that's a top eight contender this season. The Cats will need to be playing at their best to win this game. The Dee's will come smelling blood given our recent form, they'll think we're ripe for the picking, and sadly, the Cats are vulnerable.

No good - need another 7 points please
I would have been in the minority,I was hoping they wouldn't get those extra 7 points,hell I didn't want to share being at a record score game at Cararra 9 years earlier with all you lot.
OK who was at Cararra for that event?

239 is the highest score - so 7 more points & we beat our score from Cararra, so no need to share with anyone

  • Selwood + Ablett - 39 Disposals each;
  • Geelong 20 scoring shots from 24 I50;
  • By Q4 I50 count 14-9 Melbourne could only score 1.7;
  • Demons had costly second term, giving away three 50m penalties, the Cats kicked four unanswered goals to turn a 10 point deficit into a 14 point lead;
  • Geelong finished with 41 I50s, 23 less than Melbourne + scored from 66% of entries;
  • Best - Selwood, Ablett, Menzel, Duncan, Parfitt, Kelly;
  • Won by four points, after Gawn missed a goal at the end of Q4

Who remembers the fantastic play resulting in Murdoch's goal?

:think::think::think:

Why seven points, cats09?

Why not another six or twelve points?
Minimum of another 7 points i should have said - could be another 12 or 50 points, doesn't really matter as long as its a minimum of 7

Why equal the previous record when you can beat it?
