I said to my daughter at the time
"why do players continue to elect to bump and risk a suspension when there are other options"

Also, in this case the ball was on the boundary line and likely to go out anyhow with limited action from Bailey

With concussion a big issue for years, player welfare is required to the opposition on occasions like this one.
Lions have had their own player concussion issues recently and in the past.

It ended up being high conduct due to his bump action. So, no bump = no head clash.
A head clash on Haynes right side of head. Haynes then hit his head on the hard astro turf also on the right side.
Put Starcevich in Haynes spot. He would have come off for sure and likely stayed off. Possibly misses weeks again or worse.

The charge was careless. (seeing Bailey chose to bump it could have been deliberate)
The contact was not low, so medium is correct.

Bailey will be very lucky to get off if we appeal.

Revised changes with Bailey suspension likely to stay.

OUT: Oscar IN: Day

OUT: Answerth IN: Reville as wing/forward relief (Gardiner sub last week to on field defense)

OUT: Bailey IN: Someone as Sub and a hard one. From McLachlan, Marshall or the experienced McKenna

Surely we get kiddy back in asap, a bit like Ashcroft last year the more afl time before finals the more likely he is to get BOGs in September like will last year (SF + GF IMO)

It's a blight on the game if something like that is worthy of a one week ban.

The AFL seem to be allergic to common sense when it comes to a lot of things, so I'm not even mad about it. Just sort tolerate their incompetence these days.

There should be a middle ground for something like that. A financial fine for incidental head contact when the opposition player isn't tangibly impacted should be the case for Zac. Anyways, see you in two weeks Zac.

I wouldn't be getting my hopes up with Kiddy this year ,it's going to take more time.

Likewise Doedee could be a 2026 man if his body holds up till then.

If Bailey misses, which looks likely off a slight head contact, we have a few different options to replace his wing role.

Straight swap Reville or Marshall.
Shagga in and push Ah Chee to the wing.
Fletcher back to the wing and bringing in Beeckan.

Reckon all have merit. Im concerned that Reville can't play a full game but feel that's the most likely change

Kiddy is a must selection once game fit IMO, he is all class and would make us better side, still plenty of time, give him another 3 weeks in the VFL then a sub for seniors, then in the 22 final 2 games of the H&A season.

Zorko and Kiddy delivering out of the back half would be almost unstoppable.

i think our biggest issue this year is leaking too many goals. if it's noah for kiddy that coukd be a worry

i am a massive wrap for kiddy. think we should get him back in the side but he needs to be back and firing so he can deliver things like his tackling and intercept marking

I don't think Kiddy's defending is as bad as some on here espouse.
