I thought Lucas was pretty good today, one of his better games from my perspective.

Yeah but he fell of a tackle. That undoes his 18 touches, the gut running, the courageous mark he took, the increase in contested ball.

PS. Ratts must be feeling quite sad about now. We had a premiership coach, just lacked a club with the patience to see the plan through or the balls to stand up to the money. Now that is quite sad.

Enough mod bashing comments. We can not please all people at all times. Something you think is fine, somebody else doesn't. So we ask for respect in all posting. The rules are clear. I would think a minor comment like that towards an opposition suppporter, doesn't really affect anybody's time on BF. Leave it to us, we get it right more often than not.

Don't worry ODNs. We are all emotional about the loss, it's just that some can't work out that it's a game - we learn - and we live to fight another day. Thank god the players are professionals. Yes, it was disappointing for all of us. But in the week that we learned of the terrible fate for those two young kids on their way to the Carlton game a bit of f***ing perspective from some posters, even notable trouble makers, would be welcome. Keep up the good work ODNs - we appreciate what you do, and the way you go about it.

Stick with Casboult, drop Boots, Davies, Laid (there is something seriously wrong with this bloke, didn't look like the same player). Bring in Scotland, Buckley, and maybe white??

Move Tuohy up the ground, quick strong and great kick see if he can damage the opposition in the forward half, has become stale in the backline.

Agreed. Tuohy needs to be moved up the ground or to the VFL, he's pretty average defensively and provides zero run. This small defender issue has been a glaring one for too long, we can only hope Temay turns into a decent player, and fast.

We had that in toast andcblew it!
Boots again just couldn't get it done when he had 2. We had a huuuuge advantage in the ruck and blew it.
What we learned:
- we have shit all small defenders who can lock down on a small.
- Walker needs to stay in the F50.
- McLean is not suited to a sub, coming on 5 min I to last quarter.
- Cas and boots need to go back an earn a game in the 2s.
- we miss a Scotland!
- Simmo out of form.
- jammo,judd & kruz are our most influential players
- Mitch has plenty of heart and guts but lacks decision making skills

I know he is good at CHB but hendo is that lead up CHF that we crave ATM.

Really we're not that far away IMO from stringing it together. Just need to burst the dam wall soon.

Small forwards killed us again. Cannot have 3 of our weakest links in Touhy, Davies & Bootsma in defence. Blues should be 2-0, instead we are staring down a 0-5 start to the season.

Outs:
Bootsma - offers no drive or run out of defence, see you next year, put on some weight & muscle and work on your skills in the VFL
Touhy - so fumbly & unsure of himself, is not a defender, either plays on the wing or as a defensive forward or is out the team.
Davies - not AFL quality.
Casboult - got to give more.
Simpson? - disposal is deplorable.

Would like to see Temay, Menzel & Mitchell given a chance in the next few weeks.

Well no, public bagging of moderation has never been okay. We give freely of our time, try to keep things harmonious and are intent to keep opposition comments respectful. Calling out a mod for over moderating something that you aren't involved in, is not reasonable.

If you want me to start a moderation thread, I will do that when the heat is off. We have nothing to hide. This is not the place for it. You have yourself to worry about. We have multiple threads, plenty of angst, post reports, twitter, facebook, podcasts, other admin requirements. A little bit of support instead of pedantic personal observations off topic, would be nice.

Didn't Collingwood a few years ago struggle to close out games due to the immense physical requirements of the 'press' ? Once they got it going they were unstoppable, I think patience is the key here.

If Temay can become an upgrade on Joseph and become a solid, speedy small defender who can 'defend' it would be a massive plus for us. One of our Achilles heels is the lack of a small defender to shut down goal sneaks Is it too much to ask him to come in and shut down Motlop or Christensen next week?

Think the criticism of Casboult is a tad harsh. Was not a day for tall forwards at all and he finished with 3 contested marks, the most of any player on the ground. We need to remember he has played less than 10 games, he will be learning every week and I think he needs to be persisted with.

I knew I would hear this nonsense. He was abysmal, again. The only rationale I can think of for sticking with him is that he can't get any worse.

Gee i hope you are this vocal when we win and the last 2 losses must be music to your ears in regards to posting on this board and the negative agenda regarding our club you push every week. Exactly. Collingwood in 2007,2008 and 2009 had the same type of problems and Collingwood fans were livid at some of the guys getting a game.

Some of them turned out to be key players in their premiership side.

At least Mick has the guts to give some players not as good or not ready a go, unlike Ratten who played every best 22 player he could, and never gave others a shot, leading to serious issues when we were struck with injuries.
