Yeah keep disagreeing with the posts fellas.

Darcy out.
Chapman out.
McVee out.

All correct takes and you know that.
People saying Darcy shouldn’t be out are stuck in 2022… he’s so far off that level these days.
I like the guy, but he’s just not contributing, and the long term contract just looks worse and worse now.

Hindsight is a bitch.

But should’ve just moved him on when Jackson came on board.

Kane Cornes was right on this one.

Cox > Darcy

Darcy playing 45% TOG is egregious with the impact he had. Do you know how unfathomable it is to play 56 minutes in today's game. They chose against their better judgement to pick an unfit player for a pivotal position and it backfired. Is that arrogance or ignorance. It also begs the question, is Darcy's fitness level due to the setbacks from the surgery or his level of professionalism? They can rectify this by dropping Darcy and making him earn his spot back. High performing institutions have standards and boy did we drop them today.
with 5 players on the bench, mathematically at least one player is going to have around 50% TOG no? quick look at the other games and theres at least a few hovering around that mark, mostly rucks as well (maybe ive missed some injuries or womthing?)

Yes but when you’re on the field you still have to be fit and contribute.. Darcy didn’t really do that.

yeah and hopefully that bench strategy changes through out the season, i think the swans using papley or pies with pebdles as an impact player at the end of quarters would be the way for us to go.

I feel for Fyfe not getting a chance at this 5 on the bench, could've been used as an impact player better rather than a Sub right at the back end of his career.
We don't really have that kind of player anymore now for this role - i think we just need to play an extra runner.

i think young can play that role, did so last year coming on as the sub. its about balancing TOG as well, do you drop the TOG for your best players to have that extra runner? or have someone low TOG and keep your best guys at that 80+ areas? its a long season so im sure things will be clearer as we go.

Something that was mentioned by Mark Duffield, is the midfield mix of Erasmus, Johnson, Young, Brayshaw, Serong a bit one paced and can be exposed by the quick sides.

Bolton helps offensively, but rarely pushes back. (I think, this is not his role)

Frederick is probably a big loss in this area, and this is probably why Sharp survived so long.
Having a bit more run in the legs of Young and Switta would help as well.

Is he correct?
How can we solve this situation?
Using more rotations, on midfielders may help a bit.

Do we need to play more mids through the forward line, to get more midfield rotations and fresh legs.

What’s with the doom and gloom with McVee?

Had a poor game and the one handed attempt at a mark when he didn't commit was a bad look.

Not saying drop him but was disappointing first up.

We had McVee, Clark and Walker all trying to attack, Chapman trying to play taller because of it and still had OMac finding himself on Martin.

We lacked cohesion and structure, that might be the first time they've all played together.

The calls for McVee to be dropped as well are far too early in my opinion, one game isn't a big enough sample size. Let him play a few games before making any hasty calls.

I don't think any guys we have waiting in the wings that play his role will do it better than him at the moment. He and Clark are going to gel and be dangerous sooner or later.

I still maintain this is “recently traded in” bias.

If his name was Michael Frederick or Bailey Banfield he’d be one of the first calls to be dropped.

You may be right, he made a few mistakes but he was nowhere near our worst in my opinion.

Still think he and Clark will become a force on half back once he gels.

Huge week for JLo and match committee. If they go with Darcy over Cox again and we're 0-2 the wolves will start circling.

Was a bizarre decision after Cox's performance against the Crows. I'm confident that if we went with Cox we beat the Cats, Darcy was that bad.

From memory he spent a fair amount of time in the midfield but he still spent more time in the forward line.
I'm guessing a Wagner/Walker combo would be at the forefront of consideration if we want to run with him.

I just get worried about the transition if he's constantly working from the middle to deep forward.

Yeh they aren't going to identify him as a trade target. Go to all the trouble of bringing him in at a high price. Then just drop him after one week.
I don’t understand? He’s still a kid.

He can spend some time down at Peel to hone in on his skills which are severely lacking.

Yeah it's definitely a risk, especially considering he tore us a new one last year.

Hopefully they figure something out and keep him contained.

He's played 66 games, so I don't think you can really class him as a 'kid'. He certainly wasn't particularly impressive, but I don't think it's time to drop him just yet.
