AFLW Round 2 Discussion - 2021 AFLW season

Amazing how bad the Suns are given they were half decent last year. But the gap with the Lions is like a canyon, they're as slow as treacle and their skill level is 3 notches below.

Lions are probably in the top 2 or 3 teams, but still....

With 14 teams the comp's talent is spread way too thin.

You reckon? Lions have been gutted by expansion arguably more than any other team and look at their performances year on year.

The development of women's junior football has rocketed forward since the AFLW started. The players will keep on coming.

Suns somehow worse this year
Not sure how after a year of extra experience that this happens

pretty sure they had their women’s reserves league this year also whilst vflw didn’t go ahead
Was their 80-10 loss against Fremantle very crushing? Sometimes a big loss in an important final can crush morale so it may be possible that it has affected their belief this year. Not sure though

It's s**t being frced to pay attention to the shorts to figure out who's who

Cant look ahead and use your peripherals.

The guernsey clash ruins the spectacle.

Pretty much just the lack of a half-forward line keeping GWS from properly challenging. Of course Staunton is better off closer to goal but so is Privitelli. I would have both play deep, and then try Stephenson at CHF against a theoretically stretched defence.

Monsoon conditions here in Perth - will be a bit of a leveller.

Commentators are NOT at Freo Oval, expect lots of stupid comments as they are unaware of the local conditions.

Yep I know a lot of last season’s men’s games were called from Melbourne. How hard would it have been to round up 3 commentators in Perth ?.

Well at least we got one close contest today, albeit in less-than-ideal circumstances. West Coast's goals came from set shots, Fremantle's were something-out-of-nothings...

It's hard to say Freo were fortunate, given how much of the match was played in their half, but it would've only taken a little bit of bad luck for that one to have slipped away. Impossible to extrapolate into anything meaningful form-wise, except that it looks like they came out of it ok on the injury front, especially compared to the Eagles.

Btw, despite both being red-headed South Australians who have played cricket at a high level, Katelyn Pope is NOT related to Lloyd Pope.
