If the scoring is so black and white then why are certain scores weighted? That's clearly up to cd to decided and that's what pisses everyone off here

Myself included. I think that scaling is complete bull**** and all scoring should be the result of objective data rather than the current system of throwing subjective data in at the end just 'for the hell of it'.

CD scale the match as they go
Examples:

• A goal at an important time in a close match is worth a lot more than 8 points
• A hard ball get and contested handball at an important time can be worth 10+ points
• An uncontested mark and effective kick in the back 50 should be worth 6 points, but often the player only gets 2 or 3 points

Nank took some pretty big marks from opposition kicks at important times in the match, that's why he scored so well.
Treloar did deserve more though, I've seen lower efficiency games (guys like Swan, JPK good examples) get 140+ scores from very similar stats

It is what it is. CD are a joke. We all know what we signed up for. Feel free to complain, we all do it, jus don't quote the scoring point breakdown, because that's a joke lol.

I'm not disputing he a good game but the inflation for some and deflation for others annoys the shit of me. Pendles Goldy Laird last week. Treloar was surely better than a 107 despite the 65%DE. The kid had leather poisoning last night.

Every week there's controversy. Don't matter whether 'said' player is in your team or not, all we ask for is a fair and transparent scoring system. It's clearly mapped out but they certainly ain't following it.

All three examples are subjective and differ in perspective from person to person, making it very hard to both assign a numerical value and also future projection. If CD are serious about Supercoach becoming an elite fantasy sport along the lines of the American fantasy sports (NBA/MLB/NFL) then subjective data needs to have absolutely zero bearing in calculations.

Alas, you are correct. We did all know what we signed up for, CD are a joke (compared to other international fantasy sports). However this will not stop me playing Supercoach as I believe AFL is the greatest sport in the world and love being part of the action, albeit through fantasy sports.

Whining about CD has to be the most pointless thing you can do as a human. Clearly a goal in the last quarter in a close game should be worth more than one in a 10 goal blowout.

I wonder how SC would fare if the scoring became black and white and there was no cap on the total. Oh, yeah, I'd just be playing DT.

Yes they apply weighting to account for the game situation.
That's the whole point of supercoach vs dreamteam.
Dreamteam scores seagulls getting a million uncontested possies when their team is 100 points up very high...because they don't apply weighting.

How and, equally important When is this weighting applied?
Google SC scoring and you'll find interviews/ articles where CD have explained how and when the weighting is applied.

They have multiple spotters watching, scoring and weighting the game to minimise individual bias.

Just like how at the olympics they have a heap of judges scoring the diving- it doesn't matter if 1 judge has a 'favourite'.

Fans can't possibly watch and judge the games objectively and with as much scrutiny as CD. A lot of people are just looking at stats, and wondering why a certain player isn't scoring high numbers. A lot of the real scoring mechanics are hard to track stats, like HTA, Intercept marks. A lot of easy to find stats like HO and clearances don't count in Supercoach, but people love trotting them out to show how good a game someone is having.


Treloar gave away a couple of extremely important HTB frees in the final quarter which no doubt had a huge impact on his score. Game ending FA.

Sometimes they even change how they treat players. Cotchin used to get KOTD big time now its Nank I have a feeling they will turn the tide on him in a few weeks though, just after they have tricked enough people into bringing him to cause optimum melts.

No subjectivity at all, purely stats.

Enjoy barracking for soft downhill skiers who do best getting cheap kicks when the game is over and nobody cares.... and there is no such thing as contested or uncontested possessions.

Because what is and isn't contested is a subjective determination

They have multiple judges watching the same game, following tight rules and definitions when assessing things like what is and isn't a tackle for instance.

It's far more statiscally and scientifically valid than you realise.
