Even back then Gawn was dominate in the ruck, with Nank relying on possessions and marks for his score I can't see him being as consistently good as Gawn was.

Those Sydney mids are fools gold this year when so many more points looked on offer. With McVeigh, Heeney & Mitchell out and Kennedy with the dreaded super-premium captain curse it seemed logical to grab both Parker & Hannebery and they've been dreadful.
