Round 2 is apparently Geelong vs Essendon at the MCG. (Our Home game)

We are looking at unveiling the flag at this game as well as our first game at Skilled Stadium.

If the flag is unveiled at the G for the Geelong vs Essendon game I'd expect 80,000 plus crowd.

As I said on Cats Claw...NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!

I will be ropeable if we unveil the flag at a Melbourne game before doing it at Geelong. I'm not in favour of doing it at a Melbourne game full stop.

As Tom Harley (and our Theme Song) says, "We are GEELONG". Our home is Geelong, our home ground is Skilled Stadium and Skilled Stadium should be the one and only place we unveil the flag.

The gloss will be taken off any unveiling of the flag at Skilled Stadium if it's already been unveiled. Hell if we are going to unveil it in Melbourne, why not do it at every bloody ground too?

I hope the club think twice about doing this.

I see where you are coming from, but I believe more than 21,000 - 23,000 Geelong supporters deserve to see the flag unveiled.

The Melbourne supporters deserve to be rewarded aswell. It's been 44 years for Christ sake.

And more than 11,000 members deserved to get tickets to the game, but they didn't.

That's just the way it works sometimes.

If we are going to go down the path of "What about Melbourne based fans..." why not go the whole hog and unfurl it at every ground so fans in each city can see it.

Whether or not more than 23,000 fans deserve to see it is not the point. Our home ground is Skilled and that is where is should be unveiled. If it only holds 23,000 then good luck to the 23,000 who are at the game that day!

They will likely do it at both round 2 and at Skilled's first game. I am from Geelong and think the Essendon game will be an awesome site for it to be unveiled

I thought the whole concept of unveiling the flag was for the fans! Therefore, unfurl it in front of as many supporters as they can! The Geelong Footy Club can't and won't be selfish on this issue.

Agree 100% dash, Skilled and thats it. Its where we come from and who we are, our heartland is not melbourne.

And we play a game of footy for the fans too, but that doesn't mean we are going to move every game to the MCG so more fans can see each game.

I live in Melbourne, but would be disappointed to see it unveiled in Melbourne. It seems there is no such thing as history and tradition in the game anymore.

May as well bury the "Power" thing (whatever it is we bury) in the middle of the MCG too.

I'm sorry, I'm a traditionalist and tradition dictates that you unfurl the flag at your home ground. The MCG is not and never will be our home ground.

Here's a question for those supporting the unveiling at the MCG:

Would you be calling for it to be unveiled in Melbourne if we played our first home game at Skilled and our second game at the MCG?

FWIW – it should only be unveiled in GEELONG at Skilled Stadium. Dasher is right on the money.

Just out of interest, a question for the historians: were all the Brisbane Lions flags unveiled at the MCG?

Definitely, it looks like I'll be going to all our games in Melbourne and only one in Geelong (pre-season) and I'd really like to see it.

It wouldn't worry me.

People have to remember that Geelong is an exception to other teams. We are the only team with a home ground that holds less than 40,000 and the only team to have a large population of supporters in 2 different cities.

I'm not saying we should unfurl it just at the MCG, but both.

I agree with Dasher, moreso the part about doing it twice, takes the gloss off it a lot, especially as i will be at both games.

Can't wait if the Geel v Ess game Rnd 2 is true, it will be massive, hopefully over 70,000 will turn up, it will probably be a Friday or Sat night game, although i am hoping for Saturday arvo.

The problem is the proposed draw. If we have to play round 1 at AAMI so be it. Our round 2 game should be at Geelong and that's where the flag should be raised for the first time. That is the only time the flag should be raised IMO but if the club want to raise it before round 3 or 4 at the MCG go ahead but only AFTER we raise it at our home ground.

Yep, it's a non-issue. Unfurl it at both games. A couple of reasons for this:

1) Relive the moment where it all happened (the HOME of Australian football) in front of as many fans as possible.

2) Kardinia Park will be the home of the flag forever. It's not as if it will be forgotten if unfurled at the G as well.

Very precious of those who think it should be unfurled only at KP......

Definitely should be unveiled at both games. More people will be able to see it that way.

To say "tough luck" to those who cant get to skilled or because there is not enough room is very selfish.

I'd be all for unveiling the flag at every ground.

I say unveil it at AAMI too to rub it into Choco and the Puff's face. :D

No seriously I'd like to see it unveil at the 'G as I wouldn't be able to get a seat at Skilled the week after. It's about catering to Melbourne-based supporters as well.

You could go in standing room, it's not that bad.
