We just looked physcially and mentally ****ed from the Hawks game, short turnaround with interstate travel is a bit of a joke really.

CS words specifically were that he doesn't make excuses like that and asked the journo who asked that question to stop making them too.

I don't doubt the Hawks game had an effect.
I don't doubt the 6 day and travel also had an effect - especially given we had not played 6 day game breaks since last season.

However, none of that matters. We played poorly and GWS didn't. We were lethargic and a bit selective in our efforts.

We lost that game. And we didn't take our chances. In the Hawks game, we didn't miss easy gettable shots. Here we did.

Its on us. External factors involved sure - but its on us.

And crap umpiring.

But its still on us.

Go Catters

I think Scottys words are more pointing to the fact that to become a genuine contender you can't settle on those type of excuses and instead push past them and win the game.
The hawks can do it, Cats used to do it when we were winning Flags and if this group wants to be there at the pointy end then they have to start doing it too.

Oh dear.

Wandered into the toilet block and the gossip is that we only won because Scott paid the umps a visit pre-game and the officiating thereafter sealed it

Oh, and Scott's refusal to blame the umps is a clever and cunning conspiracy to influence their decisions in our favour.

Working a treat so far o_O

Not that the decision is vindicated because the cat's didn't want him to go, JJ isn't showing form even to be selected by the lions this week. Show's how much attention i'd even been following jansen, since the season had started.

Not showing the form to challenge for a spot in any side at the moment

That's right. We did it in our premiership years; so do all the good teams. Can't simply write off poor accountability to external factors.

Walker was ok last week...be interesting if he can put two games together which he rarely achieved at Geelong.

I wouldn't expect him to hurt us too much.

That's the beauty of only having to play one position (not spend a quarter or two in the ruck) all the while developing as a 23yr old.
Walker will probably have to contend with Lonergan/Henderson/Taylor during the game. If he manages to pluck his usual 5 marks, 2 of them contested, 2 inside forward fifty, he will get a few shots at goal. 3 goals would be a decent outcome.

Just as long as we win the game by 12 goals, who cares right.

I don't think you could call 5 marks his "usual", he hasn't done it in even a quarter of his games overall, and only once this season. He does average 1.5 marks inside fifty, though that's where you'd expect him to get them, because that's where he's played the overwhelming majority of the time.
He can have his 3 goals if you like, provided Geelong gets more than Brisbane.:D
