They made it easy for the match committee to say we were right to give you another week at Peel.
I think they made it easier for the coaching staff and supporters to realise our game plan doesn't even stack up in WAFL ;)

2 out of three aint bad and what does East Perths 0 3 say about the Eagles game plan .Sack Simpson I say, Ross isn't the Peel coach. Funny that when Freo where winning and Peel were shit it was all the Peel coaches fault now even though Ross is in SA and the Peel side had the majority of Peels own its now his fault. o_O

No. Not ever.

Sandi is picked because he's a ruckman, not because he's a wisp around the ground. Neale is picked because he's a gun midfielder, not because he's an elite pack mark. Dawson is picked because he's the best dour defender on our list, not a flairy HBF.
Dawson isn't the best defender on our list lol . You have mj and he used to be able to run and link up out of the backline take a few bounces etc. the fact is both are pretty much done. Anyone should be able to tell football is all about attack now. Even Ross knows that and that's what he is struggling with. He is a pure defensive coach and converting over to a more attacking brand is exposing us in a area that we haven't had to do too much in the past with a more defensive style of game.

And that is the problem. Which other teams pick "dour defenders" with no other strings to their bow?

The game has changed. You can't afford to have players who do nothing but defend any more. Defense is where your attack starts.

Keeping teams to 60 points so you can win with 72 on the board hasn't worked for about 5 years.

Who cares about East Perth and WC?

After today wafl game I not sure any changes are needed . If the game plan is hack the ball, and congested play . Obviously peel got to potato playing tab and sherriden..

I unfortunately didn't manage to get there to watch but from what I heard on radio it sounded a lot like confidence levels were way down with the Freo listed players. Still think Hughes should have played today - has Ross ever made a late change? No doubt he'll be excluded from consideration for selection next week because he didn't (assumption) play any footy this week. Good to see Logue making some progress. I still think debuting Balic sooner rather than later is a smart play - hasn't he been carrying Peel's midfield a bit, it's no wonder his disposal isn't going to be as good as a player who sits on the outside and racks up a fraction of his possessions. Seeing what he is like surrounded by players better than him would be very interesting imo. We did it with Neale, why not Balic? Reckon Ryan will settle in over the next couple of weeks. And Duman coming back into the back line will help as well. Any thoughts on Collins today? Solid defensively but not so much on the rebound?

Too cowardly to post that under your real account?

Obviously not East Perth or their players.
I really not sure what you getting at with east Perth . if I were you look at the performance of your team freo/peel and see where they can improve .

So I was curious about Neale's performance at WAFL before he got to debut for Freo back in 2012... Here's what I found including Simon Lloyd's comments...

Lachie Neale - 2012 - Swan Districts

Rd 4 - 18 disposals (11 kicks), 2 marks, 1 goal, 3 tackles

Lachie had a solid game for Swan Districts. It was a workmanlike performance. He showed some really strong stoppage involvement and positioned well in transition. He ran hard and used the ball well. Lachie played mostly as an inside midfielder and showed some good body use at stoppages. It was an impressive game.

Rd 5 - 22 disposals (5 kicks), 0 marks, 0 goals, 1 tackles

Lachie played in the midfield and had two players rotate a tag on him. Lachie runs really strongly from contest to contest. He ended up having eight clearances and a lot of the football he won was in congestion. He is very clean with his ground balls, creative with his handballs and strong with his tackles. He never stopped moving for the game. He’s playing a consistent brand of football at WAFL level that will bring him into calculations at some stage in the match committee.

He debuted the following week. And stayed in the Freo team for 10 weeks before being dropped to WAFL after having only 4 touches in a half and being subbed out.

Meanwhile we have Balic's performances so far...

Harley Balic - 2016 - Peel Thunder

He was listed on the Reserves sheet in Rds 17, 18, 20 but did not go on field
Rd 22 (Reserves) - 30 disposals (18 kicks), 6 marks, 1 goal, 1 tackle (only played three quarters or less of game)
Rd 23 - 17 disposals (10 kicks), 2 marks, 0 goals, 3 tackles
Elim Final - 16 disposals (7 kicks), 4 marks, 0 goals, 4 tackles
1st Semi - 21 disposals (11 kicks), 5 marks, 0 goals, 0 tackles
Prelim - 23 disposals (12 kicks), 7 marks, 0 goals, 3 tackles
Grand Final - 20 disposals (7 kicks), 5 marks, 0 goals, 3 tackles

Harley Balic - 2017 - Peel Thunder

Rd 1 - 30 disposals (16 kicks), 2 marks, 0 goals, 1 tackle
Rd 2 - 33 disposals (17 kicks), 3 marks, 1 goal, 1 tackle
Rd 3 - 29 disposals (18 kicks), 11 marks, 0 goals, 4 tackles

The point was Ross and the SC backed in Neale after just two WAFL games. He didn't set the world on fire in his first 3-4 games but he grew quickly at AFL level and against the Hawks, then West Coast and then Adelaide he was very good. And then started to fade away until his mare against Collingwood before being dropped. But look at him now! His early debut where he was clearly not fully fit to sustain AFL intensity all season didn't matter - we selected him. And ironically the thing that the coaches loved during his first 10 games was that he took the game on (almost refreshingly).

It is incredibly frustrating because Ross has clearly had massive benefits from debuting guys that aren't AFL perfectly fit before and they have played a big part in our success over those following years. My question is would Neale have developed as well if instead of playing those 10 AFL games he was locked away in the WAFL until the following year?

Is really a confident thing , if you put your trust on young players , they will give their best for you . right now I not sure where ross is heading .

Who would you upgrade after todays Peel game. The strong South Freo side found out the youngsters. They aren't ready yet . Been saying that for weeks. Grey was OK but not upgrade material. Sheridan know where near it, Collins had his hands full down back, Ryan did some nice things but a long way off fitness wise. Crosier was part of both worlds today ,either great or shit. Tabs couldn't do a thing right kick wise and Balic was the best but turned it over. They made it easy for the match committee to say we were right to give you another week at Peel.

Awesome so because Peel lost to South we Can't make changes

Tabener kicked 1 goal 5 behinds if he kicked straight they may of been in game. Balic had 29 possessions but we can't consider him next week because peel lost lol then suban runs out for freo gets another 10 possessions lol

Comprehension not your strong suit, is it?

I perfectly understand what your opinion .You think Dawson is our best defender lol I disagree so we are going to have to agree to disagree. I also think the majority of the public would disagree too.but that's just my thought

Having a discussion without resorting to personal attacks obviously isn't yours.

Perhaps you could ease up on abusing other forum posters for disagreeing with you, because at this point most people do.

It doesn't do anything to strengthen your argument if you just go around calling everyone who disagrees with you stupid. It just makes you look like a whiny child.

Players aren't going to sit around and watch other players spudding it up each week while they play really well for Peel.

I'm obviously talking about the best players each week for Peel.
The only player who I think has a case to be peeved is Grey, and he's on the rookie list. Balic I think would accept that he's building up to get cherry ripe to slot into the best third of our side, the midfield. When he came back to preseason, posters were remarking about how poor his running was despite having spent all of last year running.

All the others aren't demanding selection, so making the changes is case of better the devil you know. Sure you can swap Subes out for Croz, but Croz goes missing in games. The club could upgrade Grey but why would you do that if Croz is next in line? You can swap Griff out for Tabs, but Tabs is a suspect mark who plays shitter if he doesn't play well from the outset, and that only happens once every half a dozen games.

And if people are saying that Croz hasn't gotten enough of a run at it with consecutive games, why would they want to drop Kersten after one game? Doesn't he deserve a run at it too? It's a new year, with new players who have to figure out how to play together.

I ****ing despair of Ross's conservatism too and I think it will be the undoing of him, but if players on the edge of the 22 get toey, the best way they will get into a football side, either ours or another's, is to play excellent football week in and out, and Balic is the only one doing that at the moment.

Balic is the only one doing that at the moment.
Impact wise grey is doing better balic in wafl level. Balic possession game is just not hurting opposition, a bit like o Meara vs adealaide . Grey might not be getting a lot of possession but his chase and pressure create turnover from the opposition team . Due to my limited English I recommend reading coulda peel report that is the best I had Read so far 9/10 for accuracy without any bias opinion
