Both sides getting pounded physically now, which is great to see.

Even though we don't play either side again for a while, it's always nice to see the odd injury for our fellow contenders.

Hawks should win from here you'd think.

I wish our game against them was like that. Epic finish.

That was a great game. Reminded me of a Grand Final with the sort of tough, in close stuff. Don't know why Franklin tried to put the ball through along the ground in those conditions though. At the moment we're traveling just a bit off these sides I reckon. Thankfully we've got the whole season to build.

Gotta hand it to Geelong, that was a gutsy win.
It was a typical Geelong win, they just find a way.

Note that Buddy and Mitchell killed the Cats early, not unlike Pendles and Cloke did in last years GF, yet they adjusted and found a way to win.

Cats had more youngsters out there today then the Hawks did, it was a bad loss for the Hawks, they will be mentally scarred from that for a while too.

Geelong are just freakish though, all kudos go to them, can't wait for round 8 versus them, should be just as epic.

Fair enough guys :)

I'm mainly looking at how intense both teams are at the ball. We'll find out Friday night if we can step it up and I'm sure we'll be better then we were against Richmond.

We are behind that at this point no doubt. Now we have a few more senior guys coming back, I do expect a pretty darn good effort this week.

In these early stages, Cats and West Coast look the 2 teams to beat. Cats had quite a few out.

Is Schoenmakers the new Zac Dawson? Fair dinkum, whoever was on him be it Hawkins or Podsiadly, they either marked it or got a free. Schoenmakers was a forward when he was drafted wasn't he?

Christ how good is Bartel  Frikin super human that guy.

Selwood is a leader, even when he was knocked out was trying to tell Stevie J to organise the troops.

Scary thing is they had scarlett, hunt, varcoe, menzel, wojo out - Geelong are not going anywhere fast.

i don't know how much worth you guys put into things like this but right at the moment we're flying under the radar a bit. it's all about geelong and hawthorn with a side of carlton and a dash of west coast. it's a bit due to our performance but we're still 1-1 with our loss being half decent. it's been a long time since we've been so underhyped. it probably means nothing in the end but it feels a bit strange.

What a game! I went to it actually and really enjoyed the contest. At 3QT, I said my dad there is no way the Cats are going to lose this game and I was right. The Hawks just cant beat them. I thought it was a very good contest, wouldnt say it was a very skillful game but that could be put due to the conditions.

I went to the game, it was a good contest. Geelong played well and were always in it but I felt like Hawthorn (again) changed their game plan which helped lose the game. I don't know what it is about them/Clarkson, but they play well for 3 qtrs and then if they get a goal or two kicked on them they start pushing players behind the ball. Hawks are a really good contested side, but their defense is currently pretty weak so I guess they try and compensate it by pushing players back, but if they focused on attacking and winning the ball and having a structure up forward perhaps they'd do better.

Both teams used the sub extremely poorly as well. Who goes into a wet weather game with a KPP as their sub?
