The South Aussies are as filthy over here as we were the first half of the dogs game... I'm expecting both sides to come out strong & physical. In the wet (likely it seems) on what looks like a soft, low quality unstable track... leads me to suggest it will make it a bit of a slog.

So have all the rebounding fast players you want... Everyone will be slow. Let's go with leaders & guys who can direct & control the game.

As such, all this talk of dropping Reg is ridiculous to me. He wasn't horrible. Caught out for speed on a fast deck against a fast opposition, perhaps a tad. But against the crows, on the current SCG in a wet game on a largely immobile inducing track... well that sounds like his bread & butter to me.

Plus the crowd have two big KPFs in Junkins and Tex. Key issue is who plays on Eddie. McVeigh can't do it. COR is too inexperienced. Maybe Harry will be the man for the job.

So keep strong bodied types on a crappy deck. I would not contemplate KJ. 60 minutes against an ordinary team proves nothing. He was gifted games last year and doubt his speed has improved coming off a limited prep or that his butchery of the ball has been fixed.

Personally I hope they go with the same 22 and Horse really puts it on the three leaders to lift their game.

Finally got a chance to watch the replay this morning.

It wasn’t as bad as I expected, and I think everyone is panicking a little. Even in the first half, we had a few chances up forward but failed to take them, and it got more and more deflating with every miss. Easy goals missed, and tons out on the full. We snag a couple of those chances, we build momentum and we don’t go back into our shell.

Yes, that’s bad footy, but it’s not the sort of bad footy that means we need to swing the axe, it’s the sort of bad footy that means you need to back your players and give them confidence.

Just re the wet. Had a decent look at the models.
Its only a 60% chance of 1-3mm before full time siren.
Then will increase after the game. Decent rain overnight.

Considering the wind out there at the moment (perfect gusty SW and sunny).
The ground will be firming up. Though I bet the grass will be a bit longer than usual.
I'd rate the SCG a strong 6 that should move into a 5 by gametime.

Reading the Crows' autopsy thread revealed this post:

"It's not our forward line. I posted this as the first post in the preview thread

'Win the ball at the contest and run and spread. If we do this we win comfortably. If we engage in a slow play shitfest we'll lose. Can't wait for this one to kick the season off.'

Guess which we did. Same old. You can't play the way we have and always do against Hawthorn and expect to dominate. It's never going to happen. Ever.
"

It is remarkable how their complaints mirror ours.

Only difference is that their midfield is actually better than ours. They beat Hawthorn in the inside 50 count while we got smashed by the Bulldogs in the inside 50 count.

I used to have Hawk mates who would bash the **** out of Clarkson throughout the season, we're never gonna win the flag with this, that's gonna have to change if we're gonna win a flag, blah blah blah. A few finals performances later and they think he can do no wrong, and every loss they've seen since they just sit there and go, don't panic Clarko knows what he's doing.

Moral of the story: footy fans are grumpy curmudgeons unless they are the reigning premiers.

Totally agree.
There's an Adelaide thread where they are laying into Pyke that he's useless, has no plan B, why'd they pick x, he's cooked, sack the assistants, the Board, the footy manager, boot studder......

and for all we know they may have some valid points. I have not followed Adelaide close enough to say one way or the other.

How soon they forget that 2 years ago they looked pretty close to the perfect team, save for one bad day
