Only three in recent memory have and played finals
Sydney twice and hawks once
Pies did it last year.
I used to have Hawk mates who would bash the **** out of Clarkson throughout the season, we're never gonna win the flag with this, that's gonna have to change if we're gonna win a flag, blah blah blah. A few finals performances later and they think he can do no wrong, and every loss they've seen since they just sit there and go, don't panic Clarko knows what he's doing.

Moral of the story: footy fans are grumpy curmudgeons unless they are the reigning premiers.

Personally Blakely isn't ready and I do feel we are too tall. Roanoke has to play against Adelaide we need forward pressure.

Dawson, I'm sorry I just don't see it, yet again didn't do much. You might find he stays in but if they do drop him, I won't be disappointed.
I agree about Ronke.

Regarding Dawson, is there a place in the back pocket for a tall, high marking, long and precise kicking former forward? (Wait until I’ve stuffed a box down my pants.)

And the rest of the young brigade. If Horse is serious about bringing in change to the midfield he has to accept we're not gonna get peanuts done with JPK and Parker, neither of who are suited to the new rules. They can still contribute but IMO they can't be our main men in there anymore.
Putting on my helmet, it may be time for Josh to play predominantly in the forward line and Isaac in with the mids. Luke still belongs.

hahaha ... re the protector ... at one stage in the match v GWS he found himself on the backline.

am certain the Coach has thought about it, but I hope he does not send him back

I think a smarting Adelaide will result in an absolute hammering of us. Of all the midfields in the competition, the Crows will obliterate ours.

Unfortunately yes. They have more points in them probably. Any team taht can score more than 80+ we are struggling to win.

With the Crouch brothers, Sloane, Gibbs and Jacobs we'll struggle to get close in clearances. On the outside they have Smith and Laird too to deliver it into the fwd line

I must admit, I'm hoping for a game where Kennedy, Parker, Hewett, Heeney and Mills make up the midfield for the bulk of the time. It will mean the rest of the team is performing well and there are no fires to be put out for both Heeney and Mills to be playing mids at the same time, I reckon.
Individually all good, solid, tough players but collectively the slowest midfield in the comp, if not the last X number of years, and none especially elusive or good link up type players. (If the AFL had a trade system...)
And if they bring back Hugh Greenwood from his 6 tackle, 2 goal big possie game in the SANFL....
Looking at their midfield I'm more worried about this game than any in memory. Seems they match or exceed us in extractors and kill us with more athleticism.
JPK might have to turn back the clock.

Okay, so if we've got Blakey, Dawson and Hayward, who goes? And why?
Dawson - on form.
And team balance. Blakey is a bit quicker - and more confident atm.
Hayward is a gun. Even a quieter game last week he laid 6 tackles. Also quicker than Dawson.
Yes it might be interesting to give Dawson some continuity - but we can't afford that atm.
