AFL Club

Other Teams
Richmond
FB Tambling Thursfield Mcgaune
HF Moore Rance Newman
C Richo Tuck White
HF Deledio Reiwoldt Bowden
FF Morton Schultz Brown
FOLL Simmonds Foley Thomson
INT Graham Polo Thomson Collins

Out: Mcmahon(never to be seen again), Browne(will benefit at Coburg), Edwards(needs to lift), Cousins(injured), Raines(injured).
Schultz, Brown and Bowden on notice

We need some skill and toughess down back. Tambling must be the one to take Stokes. He should have played on Betts because he's quicker, smarter, more skillful and courageous than McMahahon. Mcguane will take Johnson. Johnson will outclass pretty much any 6'1" defender, at least Mcguane will have the advantage in the air at 6'3". Polo will play off bench as a defender and do some tagging. Polo is about 5 times better than Mcmahon and this might be the week Terry opens his eyes and drops mcmahon permanently and treats Polo like the quality player he is for once. We need another midfielder or two after Cousins got injured so it's time Thomson and Collins came in. I think Graham is more ready than Browne to play ruck also. We won't be seeing Lids kick shockers like he did last week so expect a much better game from him. Lets play with our game plan of last year. It's the reason why were were rated a finals chance this year :thumbsu:

Who would you have there then krusty?
polo, rance, bowden etc would all be better because they are not panic strickened under pressure.

tambling should play in the forward pocket or half forward and kick goals, he is a better reciever. he got a better shot for goals than rewoldt and morton from more than 35-40m out.

Id rather see Polo closer to the middle of the ground were he plays hes best footy,
If he plays across half back i can just see how many times the balls going to end up there and the pressure he will be under and it will more then likely end with him being back out of the team in Round 3.

And our backline is already tall enough with mcguane, moore and thurstfield, and i would prefer them over bowden any day of the week and there obviously a better option then rance at this stage.

Does anyone think White could go alright across half back, we all know how fast he is and he actually plays like he wants to be out there unlike half our list. I know he started hes career there, but he seems to also panic to much under pressure and to be honest hes skills are below average, still i wouldnt mind seeing him play there.

I would go with the following:

B: Newman Thursfield Moore
HB: Polo McGuane White
C: Tambling Tuck Deledio
HF: Morton Richo Riewoldt
F: Brown Schulz Bowden
R: Simmonds Jackson Foley
I: Browne Thomson Hislop McMahon
E: Rance Collins King

Out: Cousins Raines Edwards

FB Newman Thursfield McGuane
HB Rance Moore Polo
C Richo Tuck Edwards
HF Tambling Riewoldt White
FF Morton Hughes Brown
FOLL Simmo Foley Deledio
Interchange: Graham Collins Bowden Schulz

Ins: Hughes Collins Graham Rance Polo
Outs: McMahon (However unlikely) Browne Cousins Raines Jackson

browne should be given two more weeks to give the kid a bit of confidence, dropping him after one game will be shattering.

id like to see mcahon dropped but lets face it terry's love child is going no where.

obviously cuz and raines are out, apart from them two i dont really see any others being dropped.

edwards could be, although i think that would be a bit harsh as he wasnt our worst on thursday night.

polo has to come in, rance should be given a go, the third spot if edwards or any others are dropped should go to collins. as much as we joke about him being the messiah, i really believe this kid can play, good athleticism, wants to be out there, and has a pretty good footy brain.

if thommo and hislop are both ready to play wether its this week or all season, i dont want to see them both in the same team.

id rather thommo myself. hislops harder at it, however thommo is an in and under player and he can go that job without his poor disposal being exposed. whereas hislop puts his body on the line, but hes poor kicking has been evident in the games so far.

Why are people putting Thomson in the team? He didn't play for Coburg yesterday.
Apparently he wasn't injured, just sat out. Perhaps they didn't want to risk him in a meaningless VFL practice match.

Polak or Pettifer on the long term injury
In Nahas

Back: Tambling Thursty Newman
HB: Rance Moor Polo

He didn't compete in full training during the week so there has to be something wrong with him.

Put Pettifer or Polak on the long term injury list and I would elevate Nahas.
FB: Tambling Thursty Newman
CHB: Rance Moore N Brown
Cent: Richo Deledio Polo
CHF: Hislop Jack Nahas
FF: White Hughes Morton
Foll: Simmons Foley Tuck
I/C Collins Browne Thomson D Jackson

Jordan never to play again we need to cut our losses now, joel next game is his send off game, same as Kane Johnson
Jay Shultz refer to Jordan Macmuppet comments

N Brown to be told that he is next one to be dropped and he needs to be our quarter back, he needs to set us up from defence, if he doesnt like it then send him to coburg

We need small quick forward that tackle Nahas and White.

Tambling can only make it as a small quick forward or a small defender.

I dont know if Hughes will make it as an AFL footballer but I think he will give us structure/balance and we need to see if he will make as an a AFL footballer. Plus he is better than Shultz.

When Cothin, Connors and Cogs are fit I would bring them straight into the side they have skill and toughness.
Connors could be an option of half back.
We need to give Vickery and Post at least 8 games this year.

I picked a side that is balanced but also quick and tuff and most of all that will apply forward pressure.

moore, and mcguane are all undersided pinch hitters. thursfield should stay at fb. moore is a bit out of form and not dont even take the kick outs since his turnover in the nab cup. mcguane was shocking against the blues although fev didnt score many goals and is too slow to gain control of the ball.. bowden plays his best across half back and add steadyness, he has quick hands to feed the ball out fast.

the backline was disaterous and the blues got 23 goals, and last year conceded averaged over 100 points per game, which was more than they could score so it need to change.

Thomson won't play. If he didn't play for Coburg on the weekend and was in the rehab group at training last week he definatly won't walk straight into the team.

Collin's shouldn't get a game based on his Coburg match, however I wouldn't be upset if he did.

Rance, Polo, King, Graham, and Hislop are the most likely Canditates imo

wouldnt mind seein nahas play, doubt they will put polak or petts on the injury list for him though.

couldnt agree more about cotchin, cogs and connors.

i really hope cogs can get fit agen and get back out there and close to anything resembing his best.

connors should be played foward, his trickery and skill is best suited on a hff.

doesnt have the engine for the middle, or to be able to follow around a foward all day.

Funny how people see things differently...

IMO Thurstfield has fallen behind Moore and McGuane. Thursty had 4-5 goals kicked on him from his direct opponent against Carlton. His opponents were Robinson, Betts and Judd - not exactly star fowards. Thurstfield also doesn't give ANY run out of defence like the other too.

This time last year Thursty was our number choice for the opposition foward, but through last year and the preseason it seems that Wallace prefers Moore and McGuane.

It will be interest to see if he gets a Mooney/Lonergan/Hawkins/Ottens this weekend or another medium type like Gamble or Johnson
