Funny how people see things differently...

IMO Thurstfield has fallen behind Moore and McGuane. Thursty had 4-5 goals kicked on him from his direct opponent against Carlton. His opponents were Robinson, Betts and Judd - not exactly star fowards. Thurstfield also doesn't give ANY run out of defence like the other too.

This time last year Thursty was our number choice for the opposition foward, but through last year and the preseason it seems that Wallace prefers Moore and McGuane.

It will be interest to see if he gets a Mooney/Lonergan/Hawkins/Ottens this weekend or another medium type like Gamble or Johnson

thursfield should be a full back not playing on the small forward, wallace is ruining him. i think his opponent got gifted a lot of frees and they werent from contested possessions.

king playing on the small forward, now he got edwards trying to do it.

wallace's continual changing players positions has cause a lot of them to go downhill after showing good promise. schultz, raines, thursfield, tambling, deledio you name it have all been rotated each year, no wonder they are so unsettled.

There's nothing wrong with Mcguanes skills. He's a decent kick. I think Thursty hasn't been fully fit this preseason. He looks a couple weeks off still. Our only problems in defence are Mcmahon and Raines and how easily it can be fixed by swapping them with Polo and Tambling. Problem solved Terry. Why is it taking so long for you to work this out? We are getting punished in the mean time

I don't entirely mind if there aren't any other changes apart from the enforced ones, see if certain players can redeem themselves.

I do want to see Polo and Rance in the team though. Collins is another but maybe not just yet. And where is Connors at?

McGuane to take Mooney. He did well on Fev although he did not provide great run was still good.

Moore will probably get one of Champan/Johnson. Although I would not mind seeing Polo take Stevie J.

Jacko will probably tag Ablett. Had a good 1st half on Judd after that was beaten.

Indeed. His third year If I'm not mistaken and he has been pushing for selection for well over a year now. Make or break year for the young lad.

Match-ups will be the key to remaining competitive in my opinion.

Rance should come in and go man on man with Mackie, who is such an important foil for Geelong. This task will give Rance a role and ensure he doesn't just get lost. Mackie will probably try and play the 'Waite' role on Richo, which will be effective if Geelong are winning the midfield battle, so it would be good to keep someone on him.

I assume Ling will go to Deledio, who is going to need mega physical support from Tuck and co. It's fine to say Deledio has to come out and do this and that, but it is the midfield as a team that need to step up, and help each other out. I'd like to see Brown play a role in the midfield this week also.

Hawkins will likely come into the team, and I think Lonergan may go down back. I think this will help us alot, possibly unsettling their forward line even more, and I think we have the backs to cover their talls. Newman should play on Johnson, from memory he did a good job on him late last year, even when we were well beaten.

Most importantly, each player must be accountable for a man, and do his utmost to win his own battle.

I think Wallace is too weak to drop McMahon, and assume he will stay in and King out.

- Tambling needs to model himself on the McLeod game..running half back who hurts teams if their fwds dont chase.
- The big man back in the fwd line with Hughes to add height and structure to kick to.

i see alot here are still going to perservere with Jackson. I was a bit of a fence sitter on this dude before, but last thursday night made me jump to a side........complete and utter lack of any footy smarts or skills.....looked like a suburban player in the midst of the Judds, Gibbs and Murphys of this world.....remove him immediately, we are wasting our time. If he is going to come good it will be in his 16th year of AFL footy.

and i cant understand how he didnt get promoted, yet you promote a 18 year old ruckman.

Nahas didn't impress much in the pre-season. Spent alot of the time chasing tails, gets knocked off the ball too easily.

and i cant understand how he didnt get promoted, yet you promote a 18 year old ruckman.

We are in dire need of a backup ruckman, Browne did impress in the pre-season, and is worth a try.
