All six ins are eligible as pups in the Ching
Harrison, Grant and Birss all injured. (Harro with a hamstring)

It's a good group of youngsters trying to make the final interchange. I give Harris a good chance to be given the job on Richo

Any one that was names on the bench could have a chance to play depends on how they wanted to pick the side.

Hopefuly Skip and my other two faves crossy and Bowdo get a game this week.

If we played favourites Ian Rickman should get a game as well! Pick a balanced side with a mix experience.

Bench of
McMahon, McGuiness and 2 of Skipper, Harris or Bowden,

If you look closely at the Tigers defence it is also quite short. Aside from Gaspar there are no big blokes there. So a Wiggo/Bandy combo could cause them some problems.

Geez you`ve made me tear up again Chops bringing up blokes like your namesake. Fancy having someone in the Dogs lineup now who can kick 70 metre goals consistantly from a standing start. You know the last time i saw Chops play which was a few years ago in super rules, he was still kicking 60-70 metre goals from the mark.

Agree completely, our defence has been somewhat short for last 12 months with Andy Kellaway (189cm) having to hold down CHB since Holland (197cm) did his knee. Last year our Ruckman (either Stafford or Ottens) dropped back into holes to help out a bit. With no Ottens last week Stafford spent most of his time on the ball. Richmond use Ray Hall (196cm) to plug holes, so expect to see him thrown back there if needed, when he's not relieving Stafford in the ruck. He's pretty athletic (ex basketballer from NSW who took up the game late), and can be a bit loose in defence, but I would expect him to go onto Bandy if Bandy gets the better of Gasper (193cm), or if Bandy plays up the ground a bit. The other bloke who's been named but is just an honest toiler is Royce Vardy (191cm). Personally I would have liked to have seen our first draft pick in Jay Shultz (191cm) get a run. Besides David Rodan, Shultz is the first draftee I've seen for quite some time down at Richmond who looks capable of stepping straight into senior footy. Kid looks impressive however it takes the youngsters a long time to be given a go at down at Punt Road. Last week we tried making our most exciting roving prospect for years in David Rodan into a tagger.

Guess I will just have to make do with watching some of the Bulldog's quality youngsters in action. Any info you guys can give me on Cross, Harris, Skipper and McGuinness?

While I'm here, and talking about "talls" how's Pat Bowden looking this year. Surely the club must be looking at him to step up to the plate after the tragic injury to Chris Grant. Croft is a blow too. He's been a very good player for a long time. If I recall correctly you guys picked him up at #2 in the draft the same year we took Anthony Banik at #1.

Not sure who we've got to match up on Brown. Torney would usually have been my first choice. Keep an eye on Chris Newman who has been coming along steadily over past year. Wouldn't stress too much about your forward line. Collingwood beat us last week with both Rocca and Tarrant held goaless. As usual you should pick up quite a few goals from your midfield. Garlick (and usually Harrison too) has a happy knack of finding plenty of the ball against us also.

Looking forward to a good game. Good first up win for you guys last week. Don't think we are as bad as many are making out. We got plenty of the ball last week and if (as always) Richo had of kicked straight anything could have happened. No wind to blame this week. With no Grant, Croft, Harrison I'm hoping our talls can get it enuf to get us over the line.

Cheers

your side looks a little short to me Doc. With Grant and Harrison out I think that to balance things up a bit Harris needs to come in and Power gets to miss.

PS I've come around to the three talls on a six man forward line - Bandy , Wiggins and Mcguinness - I saiid all along it would work I don't know why the rest of you don't listen to me;) ;)

Cross - hard working medium size player - courage - ordinary disposal - minimal game time to date

Harris - tall - well built - plays angry - minimal game time to date

Skipper - tall - skinny - maybe used at CHF - yet to play

McGuinness - not really a tall (188?) - could be a FF but will more likely play HB - good grab - promising - minimal game time to date

McMahon at 20 games (?) is by far the most experienced of the 7 named on the bench.

I'd go with McMahon, McGuinness, Harris and Skipper

I dont think theres much doubt that skip will get a guernsey this week. If you are going to blood a youngster, it might as well be against richmond ;)

Thanks for that!

Checked out the article on Skipper as well. 196 cm! Hopefully he gets a run. Always a little bit more exciting seeing new talls emerging on the scene. Probably because they're a bit rarer and seem to take longer to develop.
