Our crowd at Spotless will be interesting. Last year the GC game drew a poor crowd of around 7k. Our last game at Metricon was a ripper of a gsme though.

This year with Easter late we get a game before Spotless is subsumed for the Easter show.
Weather will play a part, early forecast is some showers in the day. Hoping for around 15k, we'll see.
Yeah I'm a little unsure how many will go to the game at Spotless on Saturday. I had a look at the crowd numbers at Spotless last year and against the high drawing Victorian sides in Hawthorn and Collingwood you got 13k at those games which were both on Saturday. Considering how both the Giants and GC have started the year as well as GC not being renowned as a high drawing club interstate, it wouldn't surprise me if there's less than 10k. If it's poor weather on the day, that will affect the crowd numbers as you've said. However, one thing that could be in favour of increasing the crowd numbers, is that the Giants are playing their first home game for the year. Will be interesting indeed how many fans turn up to the game.

9 goal last qtr for your mob..! Not bias at all..:)

We are but we still let teams score heavy against us and we cant beat you guys.. haven't done so in 6 years.
But we were generally extremely competitive with a few notable exceptions.

I will say this, if Sunday was 27 last week, I think we win. Heat, fatigue, shorter break might just be enough to hurt us enough for them to win.

People dropping off the Hawks way too fast IMO. Hodge back, MCG, Crows haven't beaten the hawks in melb since 2009, haven't beat the hawks at all since 2011. I still think the Hawks should be fans this week. Juicy odds of $2.20 aswell.
Some people can jump the gun a bit after round 1 but you guys should be favourites and you should beat the Hawks regardless of your recent record against them or where the game is played. You're a good enough side to beat anybody anywhere and personally I just think you'll be a better side than the Hawks this year and going into this match I reckon you'll win. Will be an interesting match but if the Hawks lose, it will be the first time since 2009 that they've lost the first two matches of the season which would be quite an unfamiliar position for them. Reckon it's a big game for the Hawks and it'd be funny if the media jumps back on their wagon if they win.

I like your thinking .
I think Melbourne 2017 is going to be like Adelaide 2016 - you'll sweep the floor with the s**t, inflating percentage and squiggle position. But will come undone against the better teams. Top 8 surely. Top 4? Depends how big of a hole Sydney dig themselves into first...

4-6 my Melbourne range now.

Well after our round 1 win against the Saints, I'd now say we're ahead of them currently and therefore I believe we would be the most likely team from outside the 8 to get in this year. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't make the top 8 as we generally see 2-3 teams from outside the 8 get in every season and if we're not one for those it would be simply unacceptable.

My range of where I see the Dees finishing is pretty similar to yours and I expect us to make the top 6 at least whilst pushing hard for a top 4 spot.

It's interesting that the two most likely teams to make top 4 this year in GWS and Sydney both lost in round 1. Even though it's just the first round of the season, teams like Adelaide, Geelong and the other top 8 sides I can all see continue their good start to the season so I think the Giants and the Swans will have to be really switched on in the next few rounds to make up for their poor start however they should rebound.

I think there's going to be quite a few surprises this year such as Melbourne potentially making top 4 but realistically I actually think there is the potential for at least 4 teams from outside the top 8 make finals this year which hasn't happened since 2007. The next few rounds should give us a decent indicator of where sides are at but I can definitely see some teams perform above expectations while others perform below.

I think that kind of fatigue passes quickly, the issue with the 6 day turn around is more bruises and soreness IMO. Given the way we tackled your guys should be fine I think.
