There was 44k there, if it sells out for a few years in a row then move it.... Our home ground is etihad...
There were only single seats available from Monday onwards. It's the members that didn't show up. Not to mention seats resold by members can only be re-bought by those who have the code which EFC don't share widely.

I can't see us ever clearing 45k for a home game again, at least not until the 5-10k members who don't go to each game re-sell their tickets. We just have too many reserved seat members for that pissant stadium. We saw the alternative last year when we played Geelong in an away game and there was over 53k.

They gave the password out on the website under an article named "Essendon V Hawthorn ticketing" how widely do you want them to share it?

Dave made these comments in another thread and I think they're of note:

It is Essendons problem but a problem they are being compensated for. I spent Friday night with a fairly recent CEO of a smaller VIC club that played it's games at Ethihad who told me Essendon signed "the deal of the century' with Ethihad. It was the deal of the century then and still is now". Apparently unlie all other Ethihad tenant clubs Essendon take a cut of every revenue stream the stadium generates for all events and games, involving Essendon or not. Bar sakes, merchandising, corporate boxes, gate sales, Medallion Club subscriptions as well. Essendon averages net income (profit) of apporox $28.80 per person at each home game based on it's deal Vs the smaller clubs who take home about $5.50 per spectator of total revenue by comparison. Is it any wonder you rarely hear Essendon complaining about their arrangement despite some challenges it has in achieving capacity at home games. It was interesting to hear the extent to which the club is benefiting from the stadiums overall operations. So whist it would ideally like to fill the place, it's not having a detrimental impact on it's bottom line as the sears have already been sold at a premium via club membership packages.

Yep always in a minority, none of the Essendon supporters even gave him the time of day to react, I think perhaps sitting in the middle of the Essendon Members, and being like that was probably telling enough.

Was an enjoyable game, we learnt a lot from it and I think we have far more positives than we do negatives.

I dunno, Hawthorn are one of the few clubs where it seems to be a majority.

Medallion Club was predictably empty.

Robert Walls mustve been stoked - his "throw him in the ruck to get him in the game" advice was finally taken

It ****ing shits me that the corporate seats are always empty. I'm sure there were a ton of Essendon supporters that would've loved to have been at that game, but couldn't because it was 'sold out'.

That shits me too say its a sell out but plenty of seats availble.
But the seats were sold, hence "sell out". The seats weren't available.

I get that people should turn up if they have a ticket, but it is their ticket, so it's their prerogative.

Note to anyone prone to panicking after two rounds.. St Kilda is 2 from 2.. as a side note.. what a nice way to boost your confidence, Melbourne followed by GWS to kick off the season...

compared with our first month of horrors..

Adam Simpson gets a pretty cushy start to his coaching career too...

Back to the actual game....
People say we will learn from the defensive mistakes of the last couple of minutes. Well that's easy to say, but will we? We have been too easy to score against when we are trying to hold onto a lead in the dying minutes for a long time. Last year, we only got over theline against Freo becasue they missed 2 easy shots in the last dying seconds. They shouldn't have got 2 easy shots!!
We do not get defensive numbers back when we are front with little time on the clock. It is not that hard a concept, surely. You flood back and you make every stoppage a mad scramble of bodies where it is impossible to create any space and get a clear kick. Think Sydney. Would you get to run off a stoppage at around 50 out in the last minute against Sydney?? (Rhetorical question)

Secondly, Heppell has been doing the same thing for a long time now and getting minimal criciism for it. He runs half pace when the opposition has the ball. He has the Scotty Lucas head bobbing pretend chase.
If you don't believe me, watch him. He makes little attempt to close down his opponent's space, or make him dispose of the ball under pressure, if it involve using up energy. He saves himself for the offensive side of things. As far as I can tell from watching on TV, he was responsible for Rioli at that last stoppage, and he wasn't ever going to be on the defensive side. Blokes like Baguley and Hibberd work their guts out defensively, and would never have done that.

Well you could actually play the game away one year at our home ground  When was the last time the Hawks had a home game against your mob?
Round 14, 2011.

Playing Hawthorn at the MCG still doesn't change the fact that we have to play Melbourne at the MCG as one of our home games. It's a waste of a home game IMO, and it is this that riles Essendon supporters. We only get 4 at the G. They should be against Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and either Geelong or Hawthorn.

It was only last year that we got a shade under 50k for the game against Hawthorn. Don't count your chickens just yet.

Don't disagree. You guys get even more stooged in terms of home games against Carlton.

But if they're going to schedule us for 'home' against either Hawthorn or Geelong, it should damn well be at the MCG. If that means we never get to play a home game against Melbourne at Etihad and get them away at the MCG, so be it.

Very very good point you make that isn't really highlighted often, I agree we lack that line breaking half forward type

Dunno whether it's been said in the 13 pages of this thread I haven't read, but Dempsey makes a huge difference in this regard.

We were +5 in the free kick count...
Do umpiring decisions change momentum or do umpiring decisions get influenced by momentum??
In the first half we couldn't buy a free kick and in the second we had them delivered to us on a plate...
the game followed the path of the free kicks as well

I know 100 points would be nice but what would be better is if you do what we did, blow them away, let them back in then break their scum filled hearts in the last 2 minutes! Please let it be!

nah, break their hearts in the first with the ultimate realisation they will be 0-3, then stand on their throats for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtrs

Well, what is a superstar, someone who just racks up meaningless disposals or someone that wins you games? I'll take the latter, you can have the former.

You don't think Cyril does much else? Watch the 2013 GF to see how hard this bloke works. You can keep digging that hole, but I'd rather educate you.
Watch the 2012 GF to see how off he can be

There was all that talk about the advantage of having two ovals of different sizes to train on. The team as a whole never trains on the etihad oval. It's only used for rehab groups or other needs. Our deal at etihad makes us a lot of money. I asked someone at the club and they said that even with bigger crowds and larger membership base from a move to the G wouldn't earn as much for the club as our current etihad deal.
I always thought the etihad deal was shite?? or is that just for the small clubs as I only ever hear them cry about it
