Autopsy Round 2 vs Bravedogs. Things learnt

And ....
Dogs drop ball before tackle the get free for tackle without the ball. Either was we got worked over.
It seems the Dogs are getting some kind of personal training from the AFL on 'this week's rule interpretation'. In some ways I look forward to the day Horse resigns and he can let loose on all the shit he's had to put up with, from free kicks to trading bans. At least the players can take it out on the opposition team.

Florent def needs to develop his tank. Tries but he's got no turn of speed left in second half. One down on rotation didnt help. He'll get there.
The newbies looked good, very good. Hopefully we'll get a bunch of games into them, rest them up when some senior blokes come back in, and then have some handy depth to take us through the business end of the season. We're in a good zone despite the 0-2 start. We took on the premiers on their home deck with 21 vs 25 players and half of ours just out of kindergarten. Yet it still took the AFL's best efforts with a bunch of made-up rules to curb our brilliant fightback. I'm not worried, not one bit. We'll be there fresher and fighting at the pointy end of the year. This is the year of the Swans. What's more those same newbies and our young team, led by some old heads will be sucking back champagne from the premiership window for years to come. Forget having a bunch of low draft picks. We have our own talent factory.

Which probably explains the tackle differential.....

Dog hangs back and waits for Swan to pick up ball
Dog grabs Swan. Umpire pats Dog and gives Dog a biscuit (free)

At this rate soon no-one will dare take possession. Everyone will be tapping to team mates. It's becoming AFL volleyball

Same reasoning is why Clarkson doesn't care about contested possessions. Hawks players appear trained to let opponents get the pill, tackle them pinning an arm with greater chance of "incorrect disposal" than "nil prior" paid by umpires.

Clarkson was pissed off when tactic backfired in 2016 finals and umpires let it slide against Bulldogs by not paying incorrect disposal frees the way of Hawks.

Sam Reid managed to slot a cool six AND help out in the ruck AND help out in defense. Apart from that poor kick to JPK it was about as dominating a performance as any Swan has turned in in a while.

Like I keep saying, if he and Buddy can manage to stay uninjured, opposition defenders won't know which way to turn. Throw him another $600k, and quick.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but Buddy looked happy to have another guy up there to share the load.

In Harry's defence.....he had no chance against Bonts

No. But he also may as well not have even been there. Bont just waltzed in front him him like he wasn't there.

werent we 1-4 or something in 2014? No need to panic.

Collingwood at SCG
West Coast at Subiaco
GWS at SCG.

Need to win at least 2 of those to not be too far behind.

He's got the guts of an easter egg, really I wonder what the likes of Dennis Carroll and Gary Brice think of this squib wearing they're number.

I think he could still be a decent player if he was in Papley's small forward spot while he is out. Too soft to play defence (even Lloyd is harder at it).

Horse moved him to half-back when he was on his 'what's a small forward?' setup and it hasn't worked out at all.

i dont buy into the notion that lloyd is soft..im a big fan of his..for me you have to look at body size to appropriately judge someones hardness at a contest.

For me, tippett plays soft. close to the biggest bloke on the ground every week and does nothing with it. Never uses his body and gets outworked alot.

Someone like lloyd is only slight and he knows this, for all we know he may play with the idea of "im too small to go in body and body and if i do theres a fair chance il get knocked right out of the contest, if i slightly avoid the contest , at least im a chance to stay in the hunt and lay a tackle"

That's the basketballer in him

Nice to hear this from a neutral fan. I completely agree - I think it is an absolute disgrace to rub it in the face of the team you beat last season. Poor form from the AFL.

Given the awfully compromised draw anyway, I think the first GF rematch should be away from home for the Premiers.

Ha!

The Dogs should not unfurl their first flag in generations before THEIR first home game of the season at THEIR home ground in front of THEIR fans so as not hurt the feelings of the LGF's (Losing Grand Finalists)?

You can't make this stuff up. Really.

Did scotty jeffery help you unfurl it? You really should have given him the honour seeing as he was BOG

I honestly don't think this is a notion that really any Sydney fans agree with.

I was sitting near plenty of Sydney supporters and they were respectfully clapping. One even told their child to stop talking during the celebrations.

Holy shit. A level headed dogs supporter. Thanks for the decent response.
