I guess he felt like he had to set an example then, but he is in the leadership group and a mentor to younger players and should be setting an example for them regardless of whether or not he's captain.

on SEN radio David Schwartz claimed there is a problem with Roos and Goodes, when questioned by reporter Mark Robinson he refused to say more.
it might go back to the captaincy issue.
Thats bollocks! Roosy is very open to the players, and same goes with the players being open to their coaches. It's probably something else.

Yep and we all know that

a) Schwarz is a man of fine intellect, full of remarkable insights into the game and its machinations; and

b) Schwarz has access to detailed knowledge of the workings of Sydney.

Not having a go at you Bedford - you're just reporting what you heard. But Schwarz is a spud of the highest order, and if he reckons there's a problem between Goodes and Roos, my bet is on Goodesy being invited round to the Roos household for a barbie this evening.

Yeah I know. Sorry, I was hoping my message took on a different edge. The anger was never intended for you. Just the whole basic idea of the Roosy vs Goodesy thing.

Liz,
the ox is the worst footy commentator in the history of AFL,in sydney you don't have to put up with this dud on the radio.
i was just reporting what he said and he then wouldn't back it up.

This just in.

I Know, it should be Bevan, and I'm surprised Ablett's playing, isn't he supposed to be injured?
I presume Nick Davis is injured as that is the only reason that i can think of why he would be dropped. Also i wouldnt think Nick Davis and Ed Barlow would be interchangable but apparently i am wrong.

I presume Buchanon will play a small forward/Nick Davis role and Barlow will play in the midfield.

that shocked me as i read that paul roos said that if his players weren't up to their playing standards by rd 5-6 then he'd start dropping players
Nick Davis will always be the exception right? *sigh*

This is a strange decision, hopefully Roos will come out with a reasonable answer as to why Davis is drooped. I was pretty confident Barlow will be included at the expense of Bevan.

I'm expecting for a bit of different strategy or at least execution. Port Adelaide have shown in their last couple of games that there have not pressured the opposition effectively in the midfield, yes its been Geelong, but its something I think we can work on as well. Get guys like Jude Bolton, Jarrid Moore, Brett Kirk Buchanan, Jack and God prey McVeigh carry the ball a lot more through the midfield and if they get pressured we can play the tight game better than they can It should also allow us to hit guys like O'Keefe up the ground quicker and get it into the forward line before any flood. And port flooded at times against the Cats.

I think this is a weak point for the Power is the way they pressure there opponents in the midfield and the opposing teams have seen the weakness exploited will use it and until they fix it there vulnerable and I think we are capable of using it.

Not me was a breathe of fresh air. No point floggin a dead horse..
Seriously, there are senior players that need to earn their spots, and good on Roos for putting them on notice early in the season..
Expecting a good show from the newbies this week cant wait..
