U18 Champs Round 2 - WA vs SA

I haven’t see mead do a single damned thing.

I’ve been talking him down on the port board for months as last years expectation he would be a top 20 pick are hugely unrealistic I believe. Has a great kick but so so many question marks he’s a guy whose had a grown body for years and hasn’t added to his game at all this year. Slow as hell. I’ve had him as a 40-60 range pick and even by those standards he’s let me down today.

Taylor did a classy weave thru congestion during the 2nd....McDonald is presenting well, good kick by Warner to a McDonald lead, pity he couldn't convert....Buller seems to be rucking a fair bit,are they saving Luke Jackson's tank for the second half?

Pretty rushed game so far, not sure SA have adjusted to how the WA boys play. But the fact WA aren't further in front is testament to how well the SA back line has played. They've helped up fairly strong, Gould and Hilder are playing particularly well. Day has shown a few things, but Grivell has been down on his usual form.

Stephens is the best mid out on the ground, one of the few who have been clean. Schoenberg has been good when he's touched it, just hasn't been enough. Otherwise I've liked how Burrows has played so far, not afraid to be aggressive. And Park is always around the ball.

The forwards have had some shocking service though. Taheny is presenting and Sladojevic is working hard, but aren't getting near it. Tucker is one of the only forwards who's been getting his hands on it. McDonald for WA is about the only forward being given a chance, just lucky for SA that he can't kick.

If he kicks slightly straight, it is a true reflection of the state of the game.

SA got away with that half playing below average football.

I reckon WA deserve to be about a goal ahead. They haven't played particularly well either. Only had 3 decent forward entries for the half, all of which ended in McDonald behinds.

I’m sure this would have been asked and answered elsewhere before but what’s the deal with Georgiades, Is he injured? or has he just not been selected? IIRC there was a bit hype about him last year as an underager.

Prior, Garcia, Robertson and L. Jackson have been clinical for WA.

They've had contributors on every line but those 4 in my best so far for WA.

SA have taken a leaf outa the VM play book....stars look 2nd tier atm

Is Taheny injured or cop a big knock in the first quarter???

He looks really slow out there and his posture and attitude looks really poor. Slowly jogging round constantly got his head down looking at the ground.

I was expecting him to o be up and about 🤷‍♂️
This is exactly how he ended last year. Hobbled from contest to contest. Don't know if he still is carrying injury or if he just goes home if things dont go his way. He can destroy a game, but he is either on or off. And when he is off he makes sure everyone knows he is sore.

So hard to rate this kid, got a feeling if it clicks people regret not selecting him and it could also be a case of I told you so!

Quad injury apparently, been on the injury list as indefinite all season from memory...pity that, talented kid.

I bet he was up and about the other week when he kicked 5 for Norwood 🙄 wouldn't have shown any signs of injury 😂

A lot of boys going to ground and slipping over...did it rain last night/this morning in WA???

Always bring the long stops boys

Also really liked the look of Day.

He needs to eat a sandwich and hit the gym, but he's a good mover at that height and takes a good overhead grab and has a penetrative kick.

Has been super clean. One grab overhead. Pickups all one touch. Smooth. I would almost take him before taheny to be honest my only question is day a hbf or genuine mid at afl level one day?
