Really don’t see the point of a player like brown running around with a 19 year old, 10 gamer... whilst only getting 4 kicks himself. Who cares if he beat a player who has been in the SANFL all year.

His only weapon is stopping key forwards and then he doesn’t even take the only one on the ground.

I think brown has been good this year but is overrated on here a lot.
I think he's pretty good. He was always best 22 at Collingwood, and i think he's playing as well right now as he ever did.
Are 1%'s a good thing? He's second in the AFL at them. He's second in the AFL for spoils. That means he stops his opponent doesn't it?
Regarding Walker , who decides who Brown plays on?

Now disposal efficiency is a suspect stat, but you'd need to think that those scoring the best are good to have?
The only players in the AFL with better disposal efficiency than Brown have played only 3 games or less.

I like a bit of reliability in defence.

He's had a pretty good year, but I still don't think he's that valuable without a good match-up… which I think there are only a handful in the comp > Hawkins, Jenkins, Kennedy.

A spoiling specialist is a pretty outdated role, a bit like a ruckman that gets a bunch of hitouts but doesn't contribute around the ground. Good teams feast on spoils and it's part of the reason small forwards have been chopping us up all year… spoils just create crumbs.
No other regular player in the top 50 for spoils takes less marks or gets less possessions than Brown, so if he's not stopping a gun key forward, he's offering us very little the other way.

And you're right, disposal efficiency is a pretty useless stat in isolation… put it next to a players metres gained to get a picture of what we gain from this supposed elite efficiency. Brown averages 100 metres per game, 12 metres per disposal.

Brown was on the fringe at Collingwood 3 years ago in and out of the VFL, hence why they let him walk.

He's had a good year, but he's not the future and needs to make way now that Battle and Carlisle are back… playing all three leaves us cumbersome and slow.
