Autopsy Round 20, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs Fremantle

Beat the line, didn’t jeer off an injured player. We call that a W where I’m from.

Positives

• Hall growing week on week. Clean disposal today and important in the link up. Happy for him, proving me wrong. Second half impact will hopefully lift before the end of the year and that’s a locked in R1 midfield spot for you my son.
• Good game from TK. We simply do not have the coalface support for Harley and this game wasn’t that from TK, but at least he found the pill and hitting the scoreboard never hurts.
• Bazzo and Brock battled hard, tough gig sitting behind that much clean entry
• Ryan MOTY, kinda funny he’s still got that in him I guess.

Negatives

• Wasting Hough as a mid I feel. It’s not his fault given we have absolutely zero support in there, I get what they’re going for, but short term it just feels off.
• Same tune, just no mid support. Tag Harley, try to make him beat four blokes, trust the other mids won’t hurt you. Rinse, repeat.
• Too hard for the young forwards to show much with such limited chance but man our connection from midfield to forward 50 is tragic. Sets ourselves up for slingshots the other way every time.
• Owies, thanks for coming. Great work Phil, another master stroke from your one last rodeo.
• Gotta stop wearing the magical yellow jumpers that bend space and time. 15m is 15m in every part of the world except one I guess.

Dunno. It’s all a bit academic. A young team badly in need of support, trickling the season away with no Gov, Waterman, Allen, Yeo and now no Graham. A very young side in need of cavalry, with none on the horizon.

* Shannon is coming on as a marking forward

* Kelly actually wasnt bad today

* Dewar was alright albeit didnt see much of the pill until the game was done

* Baker should be moved into the middle to support Harley/ Hough. Best tackler in the side.

Negatives:

* Owies is shit. Stop giving him games. Give Gross his spot.

* The sooner Flynn becomes "depth" the better

* Harley's leg

We’re just a very pathetic football club. The last fortnight had been about as bad as the worst under Simmo.

Positives:

• “only” lost by 50 or so points
• Kelly with his best game in a whole
• baker with another good performance

Negative:
- not much light at the end of the tunnel. We just seem like a team completely devoid of talent. Hard to believe we’ve been at the bottom for 4 seasons now.

Along with Harley, Baker will be one of the most important cogs in the process of transitioning from being an atrocious team to a good one.

Heart and soul player (as advertised) that will win our BnF and our likely captain next year.

Priority is real quality miss but we can not overlook talls. Pace is a must. People with skill but experience and fitness can impove that.
Plenty of kids showed improvement and potential. We kept at it if not outclassed outside.

Never seen a midfield situation quite as dire. I know Hewett and Harley and Hall and Hough will continue to develop but the reality is our mids top out at about 15 touches a game most week. And we have the worst ruck division possibly ever seen in the professional era.

Said in the thread but we have to trade into some good senior mids somehow. And we have to do it this off season.

If we get Dyson Sharp fine but we're still 5 years away from being able to compete consistently with the best midfield groups and we don't have that time to wait.

If we can't get Warner in 2 years we have to get someone else.

We've gotta cut and cut deep. Its almost at the point where we have to sack all our senior players and replace them with seniors from outside the club of comparable skill, because there is almost 0 onfield leadership out there. We need blokes who can show the kids how to be footballers.

Tough game to watch but we scored 12 goals against a team that should go at least a couple of weeks into finals without these guys

We’ll get a good draft hand and hopeful bring in some talent. Hard to see any of them really moving the needle.

Improvement needs to come from what’s on the list already, and it’s pretty dire, Ginbey can’t kick more than 5m, Hewett acts like a Chad, but doesn’t really impact games, Brockman is in and out, Hough works hard but probsbly not a mid.

It’s scary how little quality we have on our list.

And they can't even get experience in the WAFL because of how poor that set up is.

I don't care if outside pick 1 we don't take another draft pick this year if there's good targets to trade in.

We need both TBH.

Our seniors are checked out. They need to be replaced with guys who still have a hunger to win.

We also need another in-and-under young mid to develop alongside Harley.

And of course the ruck has to be addressed.

However the forwards and backs are relatively ok.

Absolutely and get people like Davies, Cameron, tunstall, starcevich which instantly will improve the side, wont costs us our good picks and throw everyone from Cole and older out.
