MVP Round 20 Votes vs Bombers

I'm tipping the same uneducated posters that were calling for Priddis to not get a recall last week are the same ones that are leaving him out of the votes from the weekend. Football is not just about streaming down the wing taking three bounces and kicking goals from the boundary line you clowns. Someone has to get the hard footy first and no-one does it better than Matt Priddis. Anyone who bags Priddis knows very little about footy and needs to watch a few more games I would suggest. The guy is in the elite amongst the comp for clearances and has as good a hands and reflexes as anyone. As someone mentioned earlier, there seem to be a lot of sheep on the Eagles board.

...sigh. I said this would happen. Finally people have started to come around to see that Priddis for the most part is an average footballer who makes our midfield inflexible, and doesn't do anything to elevate us up with the best midfields in the competition...and then he has a decent to okay game (well, 2nd half really, was 'meh' in the 1st half) against a weakened opposition, where their best player in Watson misfired, as did Heppel and a few others...and all goes back to normal, with Priddis being our hard working, tough in-and-under ball winner who is oh so valuable to our team...It's fine, I'm fairly certain our selectors think the same way...so I look forward to once again watching us fail to match it with the best midfields next year, whilst accepting mediocrity and filtering the majority of our stoppage and clearance work through a midfielder who isn't elite in the slightest.

He was decent yesterday. If we're using a 'decent' game as some point-scoring exercise, then gee-willickers batman, you are in trouble.

5 - Wellingham
4 - Schofield
3 - Lecras
2 - Masten
1 - Cripps

Very hard this week, but that's my take.

PS: Why does this, every week he plays, descend into Matt Priddis-fest? There's plenty of other places it gets discussed such as its own thread.

That's incorrect QS.

It happens in the weeks he doesn't play as well
I dont have a problem with the differing opinions only with posters who have to slag someone who have a differing opinion repeatedly elevate themselves to the person of great knowledge of football and the other to total dimwit.

5 Makenzie - drive from the backline and defensive efforts second to none, just spoilt it a little with some ordinary disposals.
4 Priddis - not only had the job of taking Watson at clearances early in the game and especially when Selwood was not in the vicinty but also had an excellent tagger and effective ball winner himself in Hocking on him for the entirety of the game
3 Wellingham - just gave us great drive and confidence with the footy, once again with a few poor disposals
2 Darling - Was sensational across the half forward line where he is far better suited
1 Lecras - for the Michelle

HM - Glass, Brown, Masto, Dal, Butler, Cox , etc

Just for interest's sake, The Age's votes:

ESSENDON v WEST COAST
(Peter Hanlon)
Matthew Priddis (West Coast) 8
Bradd Dalziell (West Coast) 7
Sharrod Wellingham (West Coast) 7
Mitch Brown (West Coast) 6
Mark LeCras (West Coast) 6
Hanlon does his votes mostly from the stats sheet

It's a style of discussion that's become very popular on this board unfortunately.
