Freo said at the start of the year they were going to wear purple jumper/white shorts in away games with no clash. So far, they haven’t done so.

Given the AFL allowed a purple/royal match just last week, wonder if Freo might put pressure on to allow them to wear it this week?

Friday, August 5
Melbourne v Collingwood (MCG) (N) - should be visually perfect as pies in white/white

Saturday, August 6
Hawthorn v Gold Coast (UTAS) - should be visually perfect with suns in red/red
Greater Western Sydney v Essendon (GS) - ergh, terrible essendon will wear white shorts with home, introducing white on their side
Western Bulldogs v Fremantle (MRVL) (T) - should be visually perfect as freo in white/white
Geelong v St Kilda (GMHBA) (N) - should be visually pretty good with geelong in white/white
Port Adelaide v Richmond (AO) (N) - should be visually just ok with richmond introducing white on their side, should have yellow shorts
Sunday, August 7
North Melbourne v Sydney (MRVL) - should be visually perfect with swans in white / white
Brisbane Lions v Carlton (G) - should be visually ok, blues with white shorts
West Coast v Adelaide (OS) (T) - should be visually ok, crows with white shorts

Why on earth would Sydney be in white against North, who wear a white jumpers?

It’ll be both teams in full home, as it should be, and it will look great.
I’m guessing the though is Sydney will wear their South Melbourne inspired jumper. Though red shorts would be fine it’d be two predominantly white jumpers.

Sure, but it clashes, so they won't wear it. It was a similar situation a few years back when the Bulldogs wore that Marvel jumper that had a heap of red on it. Normally the Swans wear red against them, but because that would clash with the special kit, the Swans wore white. Just because they have a "Victorian" jumper doesn't mean they'll wear it every away game in Vic regardless of what the home team wears. They didn't/don't play Geelong away this year (finals pending) but they would wear all red in that matchup too.

are you new to the AFL?
they let two dark teams play eachother, with shorts as the differentiation.
this is the same, but opposite

Yeah but neither team is a big 4 so I expect common sense to prevail this time.

It didn’t when Geelong played North, but North didn’t have an effective clash and the match was rightly and widely criticised, so I can’t see them making the same mistake again.

Makes perfect sense to wear our home, yes. BUT my Swans membership emails are littered with the SMFC kit this week.
The AFL could do an AFL on this one.

Unlikely, reason is mentioned above
You do realise this is the AFL, right?

None of the reasons above aren't really valid reasons more like opinion.

Remember, South Melbourne wore the white with red V kit vs North for now many years? And then the original Sydney Swans jumper which had a white back for a few years before they switched to the red back.

A bunch of pies players wearing ironed on numbers tonight, including Degoey
