Gawn doesn’t exactly dominate hitouts like Goldy and Sandi used to. He’s more like Cox and his main value is taking important marks in defence and linking up etc.

The week of the GWS game I was told I’d be promoted shortly. As a struggling student thinking I could splurge, I promptly paid for a ticket to the hawks game full of adrenaline after watching NN win it at the death.

The week of the hawks game I was told on the Friday arvo I was being let go from my role effective immediately, attended the hawks game bummed out, and then watched NN do his knee while it was raining. Sublime.

I have to ask, how does one go from promotion shoe in to being let go within a week?

So I was a part time employee for a Solver Paint franchisee. The ‘promotion’ was going to be assisting in running a second store for them in O’Connor, but at the 11th hour the owners of the second store baulked at the price offered to buy out their business and it didn’t go ahead.

While this was going on, my boss had hired someone on a full time basis (the son of one of the higher ups ironically) to cover off me and another part timer moving to this second shop, so when it all went pear shaped I was unluckily the one to be let go.

Down the track the franchisee / my boss had his business wound up for failing to make appropriate super payments, got caught cheating by his wife with a secret girlfriend he had hidden away in Bali, and I’m pretty sure he went off into the wind around 2020.

Watching the Nic Nat highlights it's a reminder that his shoulders ended up so ****ed, those early day marks where he had both hands fully extended overhead and taking marks.

He had an extraordinary career given the two knees and shoulders. Can only imagine what his record would have been injury free.

That was my memory too - my other recollection is that Max towelled up Flynn at Optus earlier in the year.

So BWilliams in and Flynn out makes sense.

In some ways i'm kinda glad we'll be without Harley for the next 4 matches. It was too easy for everyone else to just sit back while a 20yr old kid in his 2nd year was doing all the heavy lifting in the middle. Hopefully now Mini can see exactly what he has, and the players can actually start picking up the slack so next year Harley isn't the lone hand in there.
