I'm glad that they finally dropped Suban. His only half decent games this year have been against the bottom teams. He hardly ever plays well when we lose to the top teams.

Certainly sends a message with finals around the corner.

Shame for Subes though - a few weeks back I really thought he was getting more involved and had turned the corner to having an impact more times in a game. When he gets usually something good happens. We have upped the x factor, hopefully the defensive structures remain strong enough.
Is Ross taking a leap of faith?? We'll see if he sticks with it into and through the finals.
I reckon the match committee really wanted to bring tabs in but in the end probably thought he would really be no better than Clarke in attempting to make Lake accountable.
I reckon the inside 50 kickers should be instructed at all costs to not bomb in but try and run and carry closer to 50 If forced to kick make sure it is a scramble ball along the ground - lets see Lake try and stop Ballas, Croz, Walters and Duffy get the ball then.

I know. You would've thought we would've tried this tactic already instead of basically kicking straight to the oppositions key defender all the time. Give our small forwards a chance to outrun the talls.

Nice to play a side that doesn't duck, dive and whinge.

Agree that they aren't in the same league as Geelong but I can only assume you've never seen Paul Puopolo play!

Surprised to see Tendai in (yet very thankful) and Gunston making the final cut. Hopefully he's properly underdone and hurts their spread.

Suban very stiff.

I'll just be happy to not hit up their spare man with eerie precision again tbh. I like the suggestion of just grubbering it into the 50 if there's no decent options on, force the thrown-in at worst.

There's a genuine difference between a short bloke getting taken high and the quacks of Geelong. (Mildly sticking up for myself here, since I'm forever short).

Tendai apparently trained well, wasn't it just a precautionary out?

Not really, he's been on a very slender rope. Have you noticed that he gives away a 'holding the ball' penalty nearly every game in the 50? He's awful at disguising it on top of the fact that he can't find the pill.

Interesting technique I think all in all, we've been trying and begging and hoping to get two strong viable talls in for years now and it's like RTB's gone '**** it we'll do the exact opposite', think it could be the stroke of genius we've been waiting for.

Hmm very interesting, we are changing up our forward options at a very late stage of the year (it's not ideal but...).

A real issue for DeBoer to get a game now but Subes will be back in pretty quickly if anyone goes down or is out of form imo.

This is a great opportunity for Duffy but at a crucial time of the year and he will only be able to stay if he can perform each week which is tough for a new player. It will be a case of last in first out unless Duffy can continue to show some thing, I really hope he can.

I think you will find that he is being given a rest to get over general soreness because he has been getting a lot of physical attention during the last couple of games because opposition players and coaches recognize how dangerous he can be when he has even a small amount of space to work in.
He plays the game hard and RTB will want him firing on all cylinders come the finals .

Is that really his role though? What is his role actually? I thought he'd improved in the last couple of months, didn't seem to read any warning signs from Ross and co either.

Doesn't matter though since at freoextra pointed out he'd probably first back in.

Do you also drop to your knees every time someone approaches you?

If you do you've got two things in common with Puopolo.

Cheers. I'm ok with those two outs.

Going to be a very exciting and offensive team out on the park this weekend.
I would like to see Mayne go to Gunston and Snoz up forward against Lake . If Silvagni gets physical with Lake the fireworks will keep the crowd on edge all day . Both players may have to have running repairs during the game but I don't want any reports ;)

Excellent team selection by the match committee. Dropped a couple of regular, but pedestrian, players and produced a side that should be exciting to watch. Not since Abraham, Dhurrkay and Cliiiive run down the race together have we sent out a team so loaded with X factor. Of course in those days we were a bit short on factors A - W, not mention Y and Z.

I think you will find RTB is answering fire with Fire . Hawthorn are a fast and hard running team and RTB has decided to use a couple of his own . Its a shame Simpson isn't available because this style of game would have suited him down to the ground .
If Simpson is OK next year I would love to see him on Cyril ,now that would be fun to watch .

I'd like to see Cyril have to worry about Simpson.

Oh dear, looks like Pannell isn't through with us just yet. Margetts too.

Gunston in for the Hawks...
He did his best to screw us over against the Swans so I expect this game to be poorly umpired but with no one favoured.

Really good to see. No doubt that last year, Duffy would have gone out and de Boer stayed in. But that mindset hasn't been getting it done against the Hawks, so nice to see Ross taking some risks and hopefully levelling up the team.

Suban's a strange one, seemed in ripper form a month ago but it was Melbourne and GWS that he fired up against. Need to see that from him against stronger midfields.
