True... so he was not at his best. But if the medicos clear him, and he puts his hand up to play, and there is no one in the NEAFL who could provide the team with more on Game Day, why wouldn't you play him? That's not running him into the ground, that's AFL...
Buddy hasn't trained all year, but he still plays. Gawn is either carrying injury or soreness, but if he is passed by the medicos and puts his hand up, he'll play. McVeigh is recovering from a broken collar bone, he'll play... it's happening all across the league. People forget that these are competitive beasts; big, strong, alpha males. They want to play every game and need to be held back if injured... that's why we have the medicos.
If Hannebery has been run into the ground, he has done it too himself; but I don't believe it's true. If his injury could have been worsened by his continued playing, then the medicals would have vetoed him (like McVeigh the week before he played, like Hanners last week).

Honestly don't know what your on tonight mate but Hanners was far from flogged going into finals in 16, he averaged something like 30 disposals in the last 5 home and away games. One game he got 41, look it up if you like. Only a few will ever know the real reason behind the name Kapanis,

Irrespective Horse doesn't make the call on fitness. He is however responsible for the Crusades and the JFK assassination.
Don't get distracted by the conspiracy garbage. These guys have already declared they want to get rid of horse. They blame him for pretty much anything. It saves thinking.

We must get Hanners out from under the hooves of Horse. I have this image of Swans players lined up before selection, some so sick and injured they can barely stand, supported by their teammates like some war scene from recent history. Simpson is there with his donkey.
Wearing a monocle and jackboots Horse clicks his heels and snaps a salute to his merciless group of pet doctors, they who would torture and conduct bizarre experiments on the players. "Zat one looks perfect", Horse declares in a terrible accent, pointing out Hanners. His cruel henchmen thrust Hanners forward. Barely able to stand he stumbles into Horse who lashes his riding crop across his face. Blood seeps from a dark welt across his cheek. "Yah, zis one ist eggzacktly vat ve need for ze demonz game". "Ve vill run him into ze ground" "Ha, ha, ha. Yah into ze ground mit Hanners" echo his henchmen. Hanners is dragged upright again before being thrown to the ground at Horse's feet. Horse kicks him hard, just for fun. Hanners barely winces. His face shows the despair of a defeated man.
How is this allowed to happen in the AFL ? (you ask). Players beaten and worn out worse than the lowliest beasts in the field. while the medicos turn a blind eye or fake medical reports to fool the fans. Luckily some here have the guts to speak out but can no-one stop this monster ?
Whatever else, Hanners must not play this weekend. We must reach him and set him free.
